Parked at the Garden parking lot which was almost full at 6:40am on a Saturday. Paid $7 and left on on the John Brook's trail at 6:50. Got to the top by 10:00, stayed a half hour and got back to the Garden lot by 13:30. Had perfect weather.
Van Hoevenberg Trail with approx 8 am start time. We got very lucky with the weather - never got rained on despite the forecast. Very windy on top but beautiful views. Quite muddy and a lot of high water down low, snow conditions pretty favorable up high. Used microspikes and some postholing was unavoidable. Long day, 9.5 hours total.
Really frigid, 40 mph winds blowing over the top and encrusted in rime. Really gorgeous views but too cold to take my gloves off to work my camera. And now I've got 25 state HP's checked off, only 25 to go!
My first real highpoint, on a backpacking trip with my brother, which got me hooked.
Peak in the clouds with Rick
Perfect day, hailstorm on the way up but still good fun.
Bad weather but very fun climb. Worth the wind.
Summited on a gorgeous autumn day. 360 degree view of the Adirondacks.
Summited early in the morning, soaked to the bone from 10+ hours of rain only to find no view of anything. But the Summit Steward, Tyra was nice and quite informative (with Pocket Rocks & Big Bird)
It's Mount, Miss Marcy if you're nasty.
Approx. date of my 1st climb of many to the summit of Marcy
Mellow hike to Indian Falls, and then a winding cold path to the summit where it was quite windy and cold. Cairns were covered in ice, but still visible. Challenging hike for one day, about 16 miles round trip.
Beautiful day. Very tough climb for me, especially with the detour to summit Table Top mountain.
Great mountain we beautiful views. Well worth the long trip.
Enjoyable hike with great views from the top.
Dan and I successfully summited these three in a day.
Iced it up
Hiked Mount Marcy, Overcast weather around 30 F. with little visibility at the summit at 5344' but was a great hike nonetheless. Total of 14.8 miles roadtrip from the Adirondack Loj. Rained almost the entire way up and was drenched the rest of the day.
My son (14) and I (50), via the Van Hoevenberg Trail from Adirondack Loj at Heart Lake. Took about 10.5 hours, much of it in the rain despite a "clear" forecast. Could have done it faster but spend some time at the top and a bunch of water and photo breaks, mostly on the way up. No views at the summit, disappointingly, but no lightning either. Will try again next summer!
