great sunset views  Sucess!

It's a short hike from Lakes of the Clouds. I climbed it to watch the sunset, and then ran back down with my headlamp on.

Mount Monroe  Sucess!

Climbed with Pierce, Eisenhower and Franklin via the Crawford Path from Highland Center. Great weather and fantastic views for most of the day. By the time we reached Monroe's alpine summit the clouds over Washington had disappeared and we could finally see the Northeast's most infamous mountain in its entirety.

Part of my Crawford Path Hike  Sucess!

Climbed this during my Crawford Path hike. Initially, I bypassed this, thinking I would need my remaining energy for the summit to Mt Washington. After reaching Washington and a hot bowl of soup at the summit, I had plenty of rest to make it up Monroe. Nice view looking down the eastern face.

winter in September  Sucess!

I had climbed this before with my son, using the Ammo trail. Had great views. But on this trip the weather really turned bad, with 80 MPH winds, sleet and freezing rain so Jay and I hightailed it to the refruge under the Lake of the Clouds hut. Eventually there were 3 through-hikers and 5 others also packing in. I got one of the top bunks and shared it with several mice who would wake me up by running over my chest. What a night. We did not summit this trip.

Cold temps, 14F with wind chill, when we stopped at Lakes of The Clouds for coffee before the summit. Great day. Hiked the Boot Spur from Hermit Lake. Cool hike.
