Very fun hike via the normal route. Class 3 scramble to the top, trail peters out on the summit block and its just rocks. My friend Derek got a little nervous and waited for me at the saddle. Very nice view of the valley, Timp, Provo, Utah Lake, etc, from up there. Trail is a crappy hike though, not well maintained and too much up and down.
Summited via normal route. My first significant peak in the Wasatch, Rockies and west in general. Also my highest elevation and toughest climb so far. Anyway the exposure was not something I was used to but in the end made it more fun.
As it was for the day before on Mt. Ellen, getting to the west side trailhead for Nebo can be quite an adventure by itself. I had to walk thirty minutes just to get to the TH because my poor Honda Civic just couldn't go any higher. Four hours and fifty minutes up from the TH and three hours down. Well made trail and another great ridge.
Climbed it with my father, uncle, and younger brother on Labor Day. Started fairly late--at 12:40--but that wasn't a problem, as it was rather chilly out, along the very pretty trail, with views of our destination from the TH. The trail starts out pretty mellow, meandering down to the base of the North Ridge, then begins its ascent and, shortly afterwards, steepens dramatically. Despite being one of the steepest trails I've ever hiked, we made it all the way to the upper slopes, where the peak once again became visible, then traversed the slopes of the much more gentle North Peak down to the saddle. The trail then steeply climbs to the unofficially-named Wolf Pass Peak, and this is where the route gets interesting. The final summit ridge--which, I might add, is very scenic--starts out fairly simple, but later becomes an exciting but safe Class 3 scramble on fairly solid rock (depending on where you go.) The first crux of our route was a spectacular climb up an obvious rock chute, then a less-difficult second series of small rock bands, then finally the second crux was the scramble up to the summit. Great views were to be had in abundance; though bare, the rather large summit was nothing short of spectacular. Both the second-highest and second-most-prominent peak I've bagged to-date, I was very happy to cross this one off my list at last. We retraced our route in the waning light of the afternoon, then--after finally reaching the bottom after an exceedingly rewarding hike--stopped at the highly recommended Devil's Garden area before heading back home late. Great hike to a fantastic peak, one of my all-time favorites and highly recommended!
Highest in the Wasatch!

Outstanding hike in late fall. Snow above 11k feet including a covered knife edge and final ascent. Manageable with microspikes and trekking poles (another snow would have required an axe). Round trip along the north ridge was about 5.5 hours including lunch.
North Ridge - 10/25/2015
There was a chance of thunderstorms in the afternoon. Upon arriving at the trailhead, a small cloud was lingering around the summit. On the way to Nebo, we summited North. Made it to the top and left right as it started to drizzle. (Why did Snoop Dog carry an umbrella? Fo' Drizzle!) Got caught in steady rain on the descent. Autumn has finally arrived and made a great day for peak bagging!
I've lived in Utah County nearly all my life, and have had a love for the outdoors and hiking, but in nearly 41 years of living here had never hiked Nebo. I was a bit surprised at the amount of "scrambling" it took to get to the summit - I have been used to well beaten trails like on Timp, Spanish Fork Peak, etc. but it didn't stop me from making the summit. Great day, Great Hike, I'll definitely be hiking this one again.
From Nebo Bench Trail parking area. Enjoyed the scrambling on the ridge and the summit views. Met at least 9 other parties on the route this busy holiday weekend.
With North Peak & Twin Knolls.
Took the standard north route trail. Views were awesome but the steep climb out of Wolf Pass works your lungs. The arête crossing was one of the best parts of the entire hike.
Successful hike up Mt Nebo via the north ridge. Beautiful day for a hike and got to see a mountain goat and some bucks from the summit.
Climbed the Nebo Bench trail to Andrews Ridge trail starting at 2pm. Later than I usually like but oh well. I summited South Nebo, then scrambled over to Middle Nebo, and Mount Nebo. It started getting dark on Wolf Pass Peak, or North Shoulder, so I decided to forgo my ascent of North Peak for another day, since I wanted to be down before midnight since I was going solo. Got down just before 10:45pm. EDIT-Came back later on August 17 to climb peak 11010. Went up Andrews Ridge. I also wanted to climb North Peak to finish up the Wasatch 11'ers but unfortunately it escaped me yet again. I'll be back for North Peak for sure!
My now-wife had never been to a mountain summit before. This was her first. So proud of you, Jessica! Hiked it with PrinceofNorway and Abrennalinerush.
Very nice hike/scramble up to the North Summit via the North ridge and hit North Peak on the return. Hiked with RB. Perfect weather! Clear skies, 60s, slight breeze. Only two other hikers coming up the north ridge as we descended. Nice, classic approach with the added bonus of no boulder fields to cross which is rare in Utah.
Made it all the way to the North summit from the south side of the mountain. It was definitely a full day of hiking/scrambling. Can't believe how long these warm temps are holding out this fall!
10/7/14 Got a late start hiking up from the South. Had to turn back at the middle summit for lack of daylight.
10/20/14 Came in from the North this time. Saw what looked like a consistent line of snow from the road on the false summit from the road so I brought my skis. Met some friendly people along the trail and at the top and had a 100+ foot ski on some narrow snow down the NW face of the false summit
