lots of scree  Sucess!

quite a crowd at the lake but no one climbing. Smoke obscured some distant views but the views of Mt Victoria and Lefroy etc were pretty amazing. The route through the cliff bands was interesting as was the ridge. There was fresh snow on Mt Whyte so we didn't even try for that.

Do i need climbing gear?

So I have unfinished business with Niblock and whyte! I have gone from parking lot up past the tea house and even summited Piran 2 or 3 times. Eveytime I get up there a storm rolls in and I turn back.
I am a crazy ultra runner. It always looks like it would be easy to scramble up that pass between whyte and niblock.

Do i need climbing gear? I mean do I have to get on all 4s and literally climb or is it just a B$%#$H?

I need to start this in the AM. It takes about 25-30 minutes or so to get to the tea house. I think it took me a hour to get to the top of Piran. I would love to go do all 3 in a day and then have a nice drink/food at the tea house.

I have done A LOT of scrambles and sketchy stuff around Spray Lakes. THANK YOU!

scramble  Sucess!

a fun scramble with a super short approach. The traverse to whyte looked pretty nasty, maybe next time.

Normal Route  Sucess!

With no snow on the approach slopes, this was a tedious slog up to the Whyte-Niblock col. The scramble up to the summit was short but fun. The incredible views from the col on up made the junk down lower seem worth it.

Mount Niblock  Sucess!

Solo climb from the Chateau Lake Louise with an exciting trip over to bag Mt Whyte which had some tough pitches and route finding

Escape  Sucess!

A fun escape from the crowds of Lake Louise. I climbed Niblock, traversed to Whyte, then took a tough descent towards the Plain of Six Glaciers.

Normal Route: Turned back by lightning

My wife and I attempted to climb this on our honeymoon. We got turned back at the col between Niblock and Whyte do to a thunderstorm.

Normal Route  Sucess!

No snow on the route, just lots of scree. Very nice views. Started to drizzle near the summit--I wasn't looking forward to slippery rocks on the way down, but it turned out ok.

Niblock-Whyte Traverse  Sucess!

Climbed in terrible weather conditions, snowstorms and lightning. The scrambling terrain seemed pretty interesting on Niblock, not what I was expecting. The views were good, of what we could see through the clouds.
