Fogged in  Sucess!

Went with my partner's Rainier team in April. Still lots of snow higher up. Slipped and self-arrested at one point. Had heard of fatalities just the week before.

best views in Cascades!  Sucess!

been up a bunch of times since. on the right day, no peak has better views of the whole Whulge (Puget Sound) area as it sticks so far out west.

Near zero visibility  Sucess!

Climbed Eagle's Nest and East Knob while on my way up. Conditions were awful, which I thoroughly enjoyed. Less than 100 feet visibility the whole way up, with visibility down to less than 20 feet in places. Substantially high winds, and a torrential downpour rounded my day out. Good times!

Paint Trail  Sucess!

I climbed ths mountain but I am not sure when. Surprising, since I usually keep a record of climbs I have done. I didn't really like the paint on the rocks although I can see where it could be easy to get off route.

This was my first hike  Sucess!

I had never done a hike before this one and so naturally due to being out of shape and not having the hiking experience it was very hard for me. But that's because I was a newbie. I did enjoy the view when I got the top because I'd never summited a mountain before, even though it is a tiny one. I'd like to go do it again this year now that I'm in better shape. I think it would be a lot easier for me.

Standard Route  Sucess!

Just a nice and easy hike up Pilchuck, the first mountain hike last year. I tried to organize a Boy Scout trip, but too few people could make it, so it just ended up being me, my dad, brother and dog, my neighbor and his dad, and Josh Lewis. Josh and I raced ahead and waited at the summit for a while, eating trail mix, before heading back down. Snow from about 1.5 miles.

Autumn conditions with winter in the air  Sucess!

Awesome beginners hike for someone who has three hours to kill. The views (that I could see) were great from the ski area to the summit. The trail was covered with a half inch to about an inch and a half of fresh snow, and it was certainly cold enough to dump some more. Clouds obscured the view from about 1/3 of the way to the top. Sweet little hike though...

Snow in September  Sucess!

Climbed up in the rain most of the way up. Hit snowfall line at 4500 feet. The snow was starting to stick on the summit making the small scramble a little slick. I enjoyed I nice view of snow falls and some rocks. Still worthwhile

Awesome 360-Degree View!  Sucess!

Two friends & I summitted Mount Pilchuck in June 2000. We really enjoyed the lookout at the top. There was still a lot of snowpack on the ground, which was a lot of fun to glissade during our descent.

schredsnow  Sucess!

Had to park about a mile down the road from the trailhead because of snow. Still many feet of snow over the entire route. Great tracks to follow a very direct route up. Great hike year round!

Or is Si the Pilchuck of the South? Fun hike. Short and sweet with a nice lookout. Unfortunately we were socked in...

Main Route - Snow Variation

Summited in June 2002 via the main route with a variation on top due to the snowpack. Failed on another attempt in April 2003 due to a heavy snowstorm. Got sick of waistdeep snow! Big shock - no views both times!

The Terrible Traverse!  Sucess!

OSAT group, as an outing from the annual fall car camp on Mtn. Loop Highway, decided we would climb Pilchuck, and then continue east on the ridge to Lake 22.
Bathtub Lakes were nice -- so nice a couple of us stripped down to skivvies and swam. I lost a contact lens. Later, while bushwhacking down the ridge, looking for game trails and kicking steps in pine needles, I took a 20 foot tumble down a gully and twisted an ankle. We bailed on the Lake 22 idea, and came out via Pinnacle Lake

Where's the Log?  Sucess!

Some nice blueberries on the trail. Someone has stolen the summit logs from the lookout house. We should get a new one up there.
