With Mt Agassiz.
Up Pyramid from Rocky Creek, then over to Agassiz and Price following the ridge. Snow was pretty hardpacked and very icy on the north side of Pyramid. Never needed snowshoes all day, just crampons. Extremely windy, below freezing, and great views.
Hiked this one from Lyons lake TH. Stunning view of lake Aloha from Price. Clouds moved in low around 2 pm. Experienced some white out conditions during descent.
Nice hike from Wrights Lake. Also hit Mt. Agassiz, Blue Mtn and Peak 9,250.
Last peak of the day, on a traverse of the "big three" from Lyons TH. Worth a visit, for sure.
The whole Crystal Range was where I learned to roam ridges. I climbed Price many times and walked the ridge to Pyramid a few, but mostly I just loved exploring the ridge and the little glaciers(not sure if they are still there) and the tiny meadows on the east side near Aloha.
Sometime in the early 90's is when I climbed this beautiful peak. I went around Lake Sylvia to Lake Aloha and then up towards Mosquito Pass and up the slabs to the peak. This was one of my favorite hikes during the time I lived in the area.
Nice calm warm fall afternoon.
Tagged Agassiz first and then headed over to Price.
Pics are here.
Up from Sylvia to Pyramid then along the ridge connecting Pyramid - Agassiz - Price. From Price down to Lyons Lake and then back to Sylvia. Way fun adventure of a ridge with overhangs, peaklets, knobs, pine labrynths, and views to absorb. Good times with J.A.
Part of Crystal Range Traverse. A fun day.
A fun day of snowshoeing from Wrights Lake Rd. Trip Report
A quick acclimatization dayhike in preparation for Whitney and Muir by moonlight on 9/15. Traverse to Aggasiz, had both summits to myself.
Great views of Agassiz from the summit.
Summit ended 12 hour mini-epic day. Only traveled about 1.5 miles as the crow flies.
Twin Lakes TH to Smith Lake. Headed cross-country over ridge and went along the rim above the drainage. Very cloudy, but not too windy. Tagged Agassiz and Blue afterwards.
Up the beautiful NW face from Island Lakes. An easy climb, but with views from Mt. Tam and the SF Bay all the way east to Nevada and south to Northern Yosemite, well worth it.
No register on the summit.
Going from Pyramid all the way across to the slabs of insanity!
Fun scramble and great weather. What a gift this late in the season!
From Lyons lake i went North to the end of the cir, then East to the saddle and up the easy talus slope to the Summit. What a great view. it snowed the next day.
This was my 2X hiking this peak. Climbed with Kane. Still lots of snow on north side. Bagged Agassiz before heading back via Smith Lake. Kane fell on the way down and severely broke his left arm and a couple of ribs. We'll always remember this one!
