Great climb/carryover going up the Kautz and down the DC. Muir was pretty busy given the holiday weekend, but it still wasn't too bad.
Via Disappointment Cleaver. The only disappointment was that I didn't get to climb it with one of my friends who was planning to climb it with me for a long time. Still got to meet some great people though.
It was chilly on the summit, but once the sun came out it was roasting. 22.8F at Ingram Glacier camp on summit day. Beautiful weather conditions, but with some haze down low.
Blue bird day on my first climb of Rainier=easy summit.
Attempt on Rainier. So much snow in July 2011...much more than expected. Turned around short of summit.
My first time on a real glacier. Loved it and caught the real mountaineering bug.
Just my Wife and I, Early start from IM flats, cold weather with the wind. Came up 500 ft short. Will take another shot at it next year. I really liked the DC , lot of fun. Best to go early in the season with snow on the cleaver in my opinion
Perfect weather. Dayhike from paradise, 12:02 rt.
Made it to the top on a very sunny and hot day. No matter how much sunscreen we put on it didn't keep us from burning. It was totally worth it though! Thank you Mount Rainier for the beautiful weather!
RMI cattle herding trip. It was good fun, though.
Nice climb on a day with perfect weather. It was fun to find our own path of least resistance to the top. No-one around high on the mountain this early in the season. Perfect!
Climbed for the second time. Once in 1988 already. Both times with RMI.
Didn't see the summit till reaching camp Muir. It was super cloudy, lot's of snow from the beginning. Very fun climb. Left at 1 am and got to the summit at 9 am- little on the slow side. Wow. What a mountain.
DC- great beginner's route. Was my first mountain and didn't go through a guide service. We took a 3 day trip and practiced techniques at Camp Muir on the 2nd day. Way fun, got me hooked.
A perfect start from Muir at 1am with a blanket of stars and crisp air. At 13,600 ft. freezing rain and winds around 40 mph just before sunrise. I was sorry that the mountain turned us around but I look forward to another attempt in 2014. A great experience on a beautiful mountain.
beautiful weather, and a beautiful climb.
Great climb. Disappointment Cleaver at 1:30 am with crampons on rock was quite the treat.
held up at ingraham with crazy weather, rockfall, thunder, lightning, general mountain awesomeness.
Memorable blue bird day...
a great day summitting rainier in 2011!! We climbed Dissapointment cleaver. This year 2012 we tried again but were unsuccessful due to massive snowstorm. We only reached 13,000 ft this time before having to descend back to camp. we waited out storm for two days then went to Mt.Hood instead.
