Summer Ascent  Sucess!

Hiked up and down this from BCC in about four hours on another beautiful summer afternoon with J. Elected to take 'shortcuts' up and down the chutes. Not recommended, haha, stick to the trail, it's faster and WAY less sketchy. Encountered some mountaineering chipmunks at the summit.

Northeast Ridge from Butler Fork  Sucess!

And came down one of the east chutes (I agree with renogurt this isn't the shortcut I thought it'd be). Original plans were for a pleasant afternoon walk to Circle-All peak, but changed my mind after the first mile and did Raymond instead. With my afternoon start, I needed my headlamp on the way down. There was knee-deep snow in a few spots on the ridge, but snow cover was inconsistent. A young bull moose was standing almost on the trail in lower Butler Fork and wouldn't budge, and snorted and thrashed the branches with his antlers when I tried to shoo him, so I ran back up the trail and bushwhacked up and around him, nearly getting cliffed out in the dark.

Via Wildcat  Sucess!

This is the last part of Wildcat ridge and I was worked. Note tod self: the chutes that come down from just below the summit are NOT a shortcut to the trail.

Various routes  Sucess!

This was my 4th time on top. (Jan. 07), but the first winter ascent. My cousin Brooke and I enjoyed a beautiful, cool day. One hour to Cirle-All ridge, another hour to Baker Pass, and 55 minutes to the summit. Crusty snow. Just under 2 hrs to come down, back into the ugly valley inversion smog. Ugh. Since then two more times to the top, one in late winter and one on 6/15/07. Always a nice mountain. On the 15th we also did Gobblers Knob. Topped out for #7 at the end of the gnarly and grueling Wildcat Ridge hike with Wasatch Mtn Club members. Eighth summit on 8-30-07 from Bowman Fork: 2+35 up. Summit topper #9 on 10-2-07 from Butler Fork TH. 2+07 up (1" of snow). Tenth time at summit but first time from Mill B North trail (BCC S-curve) and scramble up the south ridge. 2+30 up. Leaf colors gone. Make that eleven times (11-27-07), this one from Bowman Fork w/ Lana, and then over to Gobblers Knob. Windy, cold, snow forecast. #12 02-28-08 w/ Zeejay. Wore snowshoes all the way to the summit. 2+50 up, 1+35 down 4+35 r/t. Fabulous snow. Started early from Butler Fork. #13 8-30-08 with Brooke and Brent via Bowman Fork. 2+42 up, 2+21 down, 5+22 r/t. #14 10.23.08 in combination with Gobblers Knob from Butler Fork TH. Crisp fall day. With Brent. #15 2-24-09 With Brent, Dave & Christine. From the BCC S-curve TH. 4+00 up 2+20 down - plenty of nice snow. #16 6-3-09 w/ Brent 2+21 up 2+09 down, appropriate summit log entry. #17 8-11-09 ahead of Brent & Dave, 2+08 from the road; bagged Gobblers Knob for a complete two-fer! #18 11-10-09 W/ Brent, Dave & Christine Mill B North route 2+45 up, 2+30 down. #19 Combo climb w/ ZeeJay; hit Gobblers first, then Raymond. Not a lot of snow considering the date! #20 5-13-10 W/ Brent via Mill B North - snow, snow and more snow 3+55 up 2+30 down. #21 7-24-10 Solo. After bagging Gobblers. 0+57 summit to summit. Down the west side to Mill B North trail for return. Unbelievable wild flowers everywhere. #22 & #23 9-7-10 From Mill B North we bagged Raymond, reeled in Gobblers Knob, & returned over Raymond. W/ Brent, Dave & JP Lewis. R/T time under 8 hours. #24 12-7-10 W/Dave. Snowshoed from Bowman's Fork, then bagged Gobblers. #25 4-16-11 W/ Dave via Mill B North. Record snowpack made for a climb which at times seemed just like work. Snowshoes to the top from the one-hour point. #26 7-19-11 W/ Brent & Dave via Butler Fork 2+20 up. Then to Gobblers Knob. :) #27 2-9-12 Solo. Two-fer w/ Gobblers 1st. In snowshoes the untracked snowy ridge was a real challenge. Cold & windy, too. #28 7-24-12 Surprisingly cool morning for the date; wonderful views. Bagged Nobblers Gob for good measure. #29 7-31-12 W/ Brent & Anne, after bagging Nobblers Gob. #30 2-5-13 From Bowman Fork in Millcreek Canyon: over Gobblers, down to Baker Pass, trailbreak up to Raymond and back down to Baker and up to Gobblers and back to the waiting car. One long day in snowshoes but worth it. #31 7-6-13 From Mill B North and return via Mill A Basin trail. Beautiful wild flowers und herrliche Gesellschaft! #32 8-6-13 Mit "dem Grossen." Via Bowman, then nach Gobblers.#33 9-7-13 w/ Brent via Bowman Fork. #34 6-24-14 w/ B. Bowman Fk, then to Gobblers. Oh how IVD... #35 3-31-15 After Gobblers. SS til 400' below summit. Wild flowers were wild. #38 10-15-16 W/ Lana as part of the Wildkitten, a variation of the Wildcat Ridge hike with a start from Neffs Canyon TH. It is quite the hike. Finished by hitting Gobblers and down to the Alexander Basin TH. #39 6-16-18 w/ Lana & Brent. Got Gobblers first, from Bowman Fork. 9 hours r/t. Windy day. #40 8-11-18 Solo after Gobblers w/ Brent & Lana. 0+38 from Baker Pass. #41. 08-09-19. W/ Brent & Lana. 3+37 up. Fantastic wild flowers. #42 03-06-2020 Solo. From Butler Fork TH 3+56 up, 1+47 down. #43 03-14-2020 W/ WMC via Butler Fork. 3+23 up on very windy day. #44 08-21-2020 W/ Lana (& Brent to 9,200') via Bowman Fork. 4+01 up. Smoky smoky. #45 10-05-20 W/ Lana, Anne Perry and Brent. Anne's annual birthday hike. From Butler Fork and then over to Gobblers before returning. #46 09-27-21 W/ Lana. From Butler Fork 3+12 up. Fall colors stupendous. #47 11-01-21 Solo from Baker Pass - Brent had gone to Gobblers but went down at the pass. Sketchy snow on portions of the ascent, especially above the pole cache point. #48 11-05-21 W/ Lana after Gobblers. Good boot pack from the shoulder. #49 11-08-21 W/ Lana from Mill B North, up 4+08. #50 11-20-21 W/Lana. From Mill B North TH. Snow and wind. 5+50 up, down to Butler Fork. Climbed it after school via Bowman Fork, ran across several mountain goats on the rocky ridge near the top. One turned a corner and leaped over the ridge like 5 feet in front of the girl I was with.

fun hike

Have ascended twice... once via Butler fork and the other via Mill B north fork. Mount Raymond is an awesome mountain to climb and I think it's way more fun than it's neighbor, Gobblers Knob. Did both ascents on weekdays and saw absolutely no other hikers the entire trips. A must do hike in the Wasatch.

North east ridge via Butler Fork  Sucess!

Around 11am I summited Mount Raymond with Ammon Hatch, Elessar, and Slade Knightly (non-SP member). It was a beautiful sunny and hot day without much of a breeze even on the summit. It was so clear out you could see hundreds of miles in evey direction. It was a great mountain to practice basic mountaineering techniques!
