Skied right off the summit!
Generally followed the summer trail, but headed straight for the peak after some wandering in the main gully. Took two attempts and a nighttime exit, but was a beautiful trip.
Good weather and great views of Lake Tahoe.
Gorgeous day, awesome view, rarely used my ax. Tons of snowmobiles on the first two miles of the access road though.
There are many interesting routes to the summit of this peak. Just get off the road more travelled and explore!
This was an excellent peak for gaining crampon experience and ice axe work. Since there is no trail it took us almost a full day to reach the top and to come back down but considering a five thousand foot elevation gain, this was not too bad. Lots of snow, lots of plunge stepping, and lots of fun. The tourist trail definetly does not do this mountain justice.
Nice easy hike. Cold and windy at the summit.
Skied from Galena Creek Park in beautiful spring weather. 4000ft descent with great powder in the upper part.
Nice hike. Excellent views. Very easy though. Really windy and cold at the top. It started snowing the last half hour of my decent.
Easy trail, lots of folks in t-shirts and jeans. Lots of Dogs. Very nice trail, well maintained.
Great day, I climbed with my two huskies Tahoe and Lakota. Thousands of Painted Lady Moths on top.
this was my 53 birthday present and i loved it
stay strong and crazy PP
Always a fun trip.
The premier peak hike in the Tahoe Basin.
Nice snow climb. Snow conditions were good. Very windy and (it got) really cold at the summit.
I made this climb with my friend Andrew. We started at Galena Park and went up peak 7730 then followed then ridge line to Chocolate peak and went up and over that peak. Then we made it the summit. It was a beautiful day with very liitle wind on the summit. We gained over 5,000 feet total.
Came up from the east. No trail, but the route was pretty intuitive especially higher up. Spent an hour on the summit with no other parties. Great view!
Climbed it alone in light snow, very cold. Was surprised by the view, definitely worth the time. My first 10,000+ peak.
Cold day with Dean. 26 degrees with 60 mph gusts on top.
