Like many, I've been through this area throughout my life. But it was during a climb of Mt. Rose in winter that the area took on significance. From the trail head, snow line at the time, I saw not a soul. After a quarter mile, the trail itself wasn't visible so I mounted showshoes and plowed ahead. By about the half-way point, progress would've been impossible without snowshoes and even with them post holing here and there was common. But the struggle was all worthwhile at the top. The windswept snow drifts looked like whipping cream on your favorite cake. The cloud formations bent the imagination.

Mt. Rose
Did it to do it... barron after tree line ... I'd rather hike trees. My back yard so no biggy. Other parts of Mt. Rose wilderness preferred
