Had great fun heading up the Fishhook and down the East Ridge
Really a fun climb. Had to cross a short snow field near the top of the east summit. No crampons necessary but used the ice axe just in case.
Fun dayhike with Chad through Cleaver Col. We also did Carillon on the way. Need to come back for Fishhook, and Mithal.
Fun scramble - took a few variations to avoid snow, and still had to crampon up for one short stretch.
Awesome climb, couldn't ask for better weather.
First of several successful climbs. First climb was with my brother. Climbed again each year 2001-2005 with groups of friends
Shut down by white out conditions and steady snowfall. Didn't make it past Russell/Carillon Col. Skied from saddle back down to Lower Boyscout Lake.
solo dayhike...beautiful day on our way home from vacation in Colorado
Climbed Mt. Russell as part of a 5 peak Whitney Loop. Up the MR and down MT.
Attempted the exposed East Arete, complete with loose early season snow...made it to 13,800 before exhaustion and sketchiness got the best of us. Will return!
Tricky finding class 3 route around the headwall.
Tried 2nd and 3rd chute to right of headwall, but
couldn't get through. Finally had success on diagonal
to left of headwall.
Day 10 of the 2010 Sierra Challenge. The traverse from Morgenson is a tad scary! Trip Report.
Dayhike, turned back at 13.8k due to treacherous winter conditions. I guess we'll have to go back in the summer.
Hiked the East Ridge from Upper Boyscout. Fun day with Bob, Steve, Jillian, and Rich.
Dayhike with Vitaliy up the east ridge after a visit to Carillon. Very enjoyable route- will do again sometime.
Up Cleaver Col and down the standard scree slope.
this is my favorite so far.
Nice peak, nice ridge, nice views. The way down didn't seem as memorable as the way going up. Would like to try to fishhook
Great day with MM. Only downside was a guide and 2 clients jumped ahead at the short cut at end of pitch 3 as I was seconding up pitch 1; we caught them by pitch 7; but let it go. Just sayin...
Dayhiked E Ridge, via Nirth Fork route and bagged Carillon on the way down. Still a lot of snow for the end of June this year.
