Route Climbed: Dirt Road Date Climbed: March 2004  Sucess!

A long walk up the dirt road was made better by great views and a lack of anyone else on the trail.

Ok, so I actually rode my mountain bike for this one, though I did walk some of the uphill. : ) Nice view from the top with lots of sunshine. Still had some snow on the mountain.

Route Climbed: Mt Saint Helena trail Date Climbed: March 2004  Sucess!

Hiked to the summit on a very warm spring day. The road is shadeless and dusty, and pretty unpleasant. But the views from the summit were outstanding.

Route Climbed: RLS State Park / Fire Road Date Climbed: March 5, 2005  Sucess!

Brought a group of 15 from St. Mary the Virgin Episcopal Church in SF - ages 12 to probably 64. It had rained a lot Friday, but it was sunny and warm Saturday, up in the 60s. The only mud we encountered was in the parking area. Everybody summitted, and we could see all of the landmarks as advertised - Lassen, Snow, Diablo, Tam, and the ocean. A beautiful hike all around.

Someone should relocate and renovate the marker comemorating the 1841 ascent by the Russian party from Ft. Ross. There is an ugly radio outbuilding right beside, marginalizing and offending the marker.

Route Climbed: Trail from SR 29 Date Climbed: May 16, 2004  Sucess!

This was the first of a two county high point day. Also did Mount Vaca in Solano County. This is a busy place. I thought I left late, 8:20 a.m., and yet was one of the first ones up. There were alot of people headed up in the warmer part of the day as I descended. I also found the start of a mine shaft just off the main road. An enjoyable hike.

There were many hot air balloons in the Napa Valley on the drive in. That was cool!

Did the hike with a buddy, who continually told me how good a view it was from the top. Well, when we reached the top, all I saw was clouds. Ha! None the less, it was a good day hike!

A highpointing trip with extensive views of the interior of a cloud. I did get some decent views on the way up/down of the northern portion of Napa Valley.

Route Climbed: Hiker's trail to the access road Date Climbed: Feb 8th, 2004  Sucess!

What a great hike! Only planned to do this as a maintenence hike to keep miles on the legs but what a wonderful surprise. A nearly perfect day with temps in the high 60's. From the summit we could see Shasta & Shastina, Lassen, the Northern Sierras, Mt. Tam, Tamalais point and the ocean, Mt. Diablo, and as a special treat, could even see some of the buildings in San Francisco - all without binoculars! This is a very old volcanic area and you are surrounded by reminants of eroded away volcanos that leave their internal magma plugs as postcards. Highly recommended.

Route Climbed: 3 Peaks Tour Date Climbed: 16 November 2003  Sucess!

Went through south, middle (east), and north peak. Fairly easy hiking, it looked like there might be some great views but then the pea-soup fog rolled in. What a monstrosity on the top of north peak!

This might have been my first summit (although this was long before I developed even a remote interest in peakbagging). I remember there being nice views of Snow Mountain and Mendocino NF to the north, and the snow-capped Sierra to the east. And lots and lots of people.

Came back in Feb 2004 to tag the Napa County highpoint, but stupidly climbed the wrong bump on the way back from the main summit. Again lots of people. This mountain has a pretty high attrition rate for a walk up a jeep trail--based on my observations, I bet about a quarter of the people who start out on the trail actually reach the top.

Hiked up on a warm & beautiful day, seeing few people on the way up. A guy with his girlfriend on the summit pointed out a barely discernable Mt. Shasta far, far off in the distance- amazing!!

Route Climbed: Robert Louis Stevenson Trail Date Climbed: 8/25/02  Sucess!

Hiked it on a beautiful sunny day in August as a preparation to the Shasta ascent. It took us 2.5 hours to reach the summit, and 4 hours for the round trip.

Trail is very exposed to sun, so make sure that you take your hat and sunscreen on a hot and sunny day.

Nice view on the summit. The cool breeze on the top was welcome after a hot hike.
