Good weather
My plan was to climb all the local peaks in prep for my first 14er this year. Last weekend we climbed Mt Pinos which is 8800ft. We started at 6000ft reaching the summit at 8800ft and back down in only 5hrs 20 min. So our next and closest peak was mt baldy. Since California is having a snow problem and most peaks have no snow we decided to give Baldy a try. We parked and started the trail around 9:30 since we were all in good shape we hit the peak at around 12:15pm since snow wasnt a factor this year. it was a solid push the entire time with little breaks. The peak was extremely cold with viscous wind. After a few pics and food we headed back down. we kept a quick pace and were pushing for the end rest and food. all in all it took us 5hrs to the summit and back. Good times.

Love this one. Hiked to the summit 4 times, all via manker flats -> notch -> devil's backbone. Looking forward to checking out the ski hut trail this spring!

Keeps me coming back...
We are so lucky to here in So Cal, with such a great mountain at our door step! I had half a day or so of free time, so I did an out and back via the Ski Hut. Trail in great shape, saw a few deer, and there were a few others on the summit too. Great training mountain, and can't wait to hit my routes this winter.
First time up. Parked at the Ski Lift parking and hiked straight up to the top of the lifts the Devils Backbone from there. To the top in 2:30:00 min in 3.75 miles. Taged harwood on the way down, then back the way I came.

North Backbone
Third time on Baldy, definitely my favorite route. I'd do it again if it wasn't for the crazy scary descent down Pine.

North Backbone (with Pine and Dawson)
6th summit of Baldy, took North Backbone approach from Blue Ridge Rd (4wd/high clearance HIGHLY recommended). Trail was very scrambly and loose in spots (Class 2), but awesome. The view of Baldy from the Dawson/Baldy saddle is ultra intimidating. Highly recommended but be extremely careful.

Beautiful Morning
Quick hike up Ski Hut to the top and back down. Left Manker a bit before 5am - rather spend an hour in the dark than one in the heat.

Manker FlatsFrom Manker flats with Aj and Md on a really nice day. Carried ax and crampons even though we never used them. Most of the trail was snow free.
