20 mile loop
Did a 20 mile loop up Bear Canyon, down the Devil's Backbone, over the 3 T's trail, out Ice House Canyon and then hike a couple miles down Baldy Road to get back to the car. Very foggy out but a fun trip!

2nd Trip
Good Trip. Went up Ski Hut Trail and Down Devils Back Bone. Weather was so so, very windy above the tree line.

Awesome Views
Used the ski lift to start and the access road to get back down. I wanted to go down the Baldy Bowl route but my wife's knee was bothering her. Gorgeous views and was not very crowded at the summit, or along the trail. Watch your step as the trail gets pretty narrow in places.

Bear Canyon trail via the South Ridge
13 miles and 6000 ft of elevation gain, awesome and aggressive hike. Exhausting and exhilarating, but with great satisfaction at the end of the day. Beautiful weather, from the high 50's in the morning, to the mid 80's in the late afternoon. No convection at the top, just blue sky. Looking south, above the marine layer you could see Catalina. Be in shape to do this hike. Walk on....
I no longer remember the date, but it was in the spring of 1969. One of the few things I remember from the 60s!

Great Day!
Great day to hike Baldy. Last 2 times when I was up there it was in the clouds, it was nice to be able to actually see the terrain for a change!

From Manker Flats via Bald Bowl
Finally got to climb the famous Baldy Bowl route. Actually most of the Bowl was in poor condition already, the snow in the center couloirs having melted considerably. Went up the west side of the Bowl, where it was steep and consolidated. Though short (only 600'), made good starting point for Mt. Hood training.

From Manker Flats via Register Ridge
Took advantage of the dry winter to try the Register Ridge route. Carried microspikes, but did not use them despite the steep snow at the top of the ridge and on Devil's Backbone. Tagged Harwood, then went over Baldy and down via the Ski Hut trail.

Mt. Baldy Trail from Manker Flat
Beautiful day with gale-force winds pummeling anyone adventurous enough to tackle the summit. Returned via the Devil's Backbone route and nearly blew away during the first 600' of the descent. The $10 spent for the tram ride was well worth it!

First 10K Peak
Made this hike from the Manker Flats trailhead. Pretty easy trail. It was hotter than I expected, but I had plenty of water. The trail was pretty busy. This is the hike which has set me to find more high peaks to conquer, but I like the solitude of the less travelled routes.

Slow & Steady
55 & First time up this peak? Ya got to be kidding me. But yes, sad fact is it took me this long to get around to bagging this summit. Great views! My worn out boots made the snowy bits challenging. Glad I had a walking stick.

Manker to Baldy via Hut
Sunny and windy. Trail was dry until the hut. Hut to 8800' ridge had 6-24" of snow. Snow picked up, iced over in places, at 9200' and continued to the summit. Most of the people I passed had crampons but one couple had made it without even microspikes.
Took the ski lift up part way and hiked the summit via Devil's backbone. This was the first time I've done a big hike without any sort of attempt at altitude acclimation and I felt it!

fun hike!
Just guessing on the date. Really fun hike that was actually tougher than I was expecting. Ran into San Francisco Giants pitcher Brian Wilson on the summit. How cool is that? Be prepared for a great workout!
