It is a nice one day adventure. I was checking the weather for more than a month, till I finally decided to go up. Many time the visibility is bad, so try to pick a day that will be visually entertaining:)
Did this mountain twice with a friend who was preparing for a Mt. Rainier climb. He said it made the difference for him. Our first ascent was on the Baldy Notch Route and the second was on the Bear Canyon route.
Each climb was pretty straight forward. We rode the chair lift down when we went up the Bear Canyon route (6000 ft wore us out).

Notch-Backbone-Bowl Loop
Very enjoyable hike with great views from Devil's Backbone. Got hot coming down the bowl. What's with the tourists climbing in jeans?! Added Mt. Harwood and West Baldy for grins.

Ski hut trail up, lift down
Enjoyable hike up the ski hut trail and then down the backbone to the ski lift. Rode the lift down to the parking. Beautiful day up there. Went up with Gabriela, Mike, Deanne, Berta, Bill, Charley, and Dan. There was a group celebrating a birthday on the summit and had a big birthday cake, a cooler with soda, and made turkey wraps for lunch.

up Baldy Bowl, down Devil's Backbone
3rd of 5 summits (and a great technical canyon) this weekend.
This was a particularly enjoyable peak. Easy, but aesthetic, trail hike to a busy, but stellar, summit!

#9 I think
Left late sat night and camped at 8500' on the ridge from bear flat at 11pm. The city lights are amazing from up here. Spooked a couple of deer (?) all I saw was glowing eyes...hope they were deer. Up at dawn and on to the summit; tagged west Baldy and Harwood on the way to the notch. Wimped out with my new boots and took the lift down.

Love this mountain, this is where I am home. Saw lots of bighorn today, 1st pack was 3 females, 2nd pack was 2 females, and the 3rd pack was 5 males, awesome and very close within 50 of us. Took old favorite Ski Hut up and down.

Twist on a favorite
Climbed to ski hut, and then continued straight up the bowl. The exposure was cool, and the loose scree got my blood running fast a few times. It was beautiful on the summit. I had it all to myself and I took a nap.
Climbed this one as a kid with my parents, a long time ago...

Windy
About the 5th or 6th climb for me. This time from manker flats via the ski hut trail, then back down via the backbone and nunder the ski lift. It was windy and cold on top despite being warm down in the city. Views are always amazing.

Baldy big loop
Up Bear ck summit at 8pm. Spent the night just below the summit under a bush to get out of the wind. What a beautiful sight-- all the city lights and a three quarter moon. Almost had to crawl to Harwood due to the WIND. Finished by hiking the 3T's to Icehouse cyn Sunday morning.
My highest peak in Southern CA so far. I want to do the Bear Canyon route!

From Lytle Creek
This was the second attempt for an overnight backpacking trip up the Middle Fork of Lytle Creek to Icehouse Saddle and then across the "3 Ts" to Baldy. Great hike!
