From Marie Lake  Sucess!

A nice climb from Marie Lake. Nothing overly remarkable about the route (except too much loose sand), but a fine view from the summit!

from Marie Lake  Sucess!

After starting from Hooper Diversion TH we climbed a class 3 gully to gain the ridge east of Chamberlain Lake (just north of an easier class 2-3 gully). Summitted Hooper, then backpacked to Marie Lake as a base camp to tag Senger, Turret, and Gemini before heading to Florence via the JMT. We bypassed steep snow by climbing a class 3 route from Marie Lake to gain the class 2 northwest slope/ridge of Senger.

NE chute/Sally Keyes return  Sucess!

Instead of going up the NE ridge, I ended up going up the obvious chute above the three ice fields. It was quite steep, sandy and slow at the top of the chute, but once the chute was cleared, it was easy to the summit. On the way back I came down an easy route to Sallie Keyes Lake and took my time going back to camp at Marie Lake as this was an off day while traveling the JMT.

From Sallie Keyes Lake  Sucess!

Went up the south slope and down the east face. Loop included Senger, Gemini, and Seven Gables. Took the old trail up to Sallie Keyes from the Florence Lake trail as described in Secor (and still showing on my handheld GPS). Steep but cuts out about 3 miles of exposed hiking.

From Marie Lake  Sucess!

Spent the night at a fantastic spot on Marie Lake after climbing Mount Hooper the day before. Went up the northwest slope and down the northeast ridge before heading off to Gemini and Seven Gables later that day.
