Found my lost dog!  Sucess!

Extended my climb by looking for my dog for five hours, but found my dog and summited, so good day in the end!

Angel  Sucess!

Climbed via the Angel. Aside from the wind it was a great day.

Angel  Sucess!

We climed the Angel and skiied down our ascent route. The skiing in the Angel was fantastic; however, the snow cover directly off the summit was a bit thin. I banged my board up pretty good! Also, the weather was absolutely gorgeous, and unfortunately, I ran out of sunblock early in the day. I probably received one of the worst sunburns I've ever had!

A slog  Sucess!

Climbed the standard summer route until 12,500 feet or so (when the trail disappeared due to the snowfields). From there, we left the main trail, and bushwacked up some moderately steep and snowy slopes to the summit. The snow was soft and slushy both on the ascent and descent which meant lots of postholing, but we couldn't have asked for a more beautiful day to hike. The weather was perfect!

Angel Climb and Ski Descent  Sucess!

Not enough snow to ski from the summit but at least the Angel was in.

Via Angel of Shavano  Sucess!

A repeat summit via a different route. GREAT snow conditions! Long snow hike up the Angel, did very well until the last 400' when the altitude/not enough energy/food in us took us 36 minutes to summit. We were rewarded with a 3,000 foot glissade!

from Blank Gulch  Sucess!

Took a chance on the weather to commit to both Shavano and Tabeguache, and lucked out! A long day, but a nice twofer with my daughter. Didn't find the storied sign, though, warning about McCoy Gulch...

Tubed down the Angle  Sucess!

Shavano via Tabeguache Peak was a great combination. Started at Jennings Creek Trailhead. Growing up in nearby Salida it was awesome to hike the 14er I saw every day. Shavano was my first, but I hiked it several times. We ended this combo by glissading down the Angel on inner tubes. F.Y.I. Tubes not easy to blow up when at altitude! ! !

Via East Slopes  Sucess!

We hiked at night through the forest and got to the summit very early. We spend over an hour on top and quite some time on the meadows below. When thunderstorm started brewing we headed down. Our slideshow from this day is here: Mount Shavano via East Slopes

One-armed angel  Sucess!

One of the nicest fourteener hikes, via the eastern slopes. One arm of the Angel had melted out. Had to save Tabeguache for another day.

A bit shocking  Sucess!

Planned on doing Shavano and Tabeguache, but people were getting shocked at the summit - obviously a sign to get down! A pleasant hike that I'll have to do again to hit Tabeguache!

Shavano from Tab  Sucess!

So i guess this one wasn't "official", I just walked over from Tabeguache. It was especially rewarding because the weather kept me from it the year prior.

Mount Shavano  Sucess!

My husband and I started the climb at 6:30 a.m. It wasn't too bad at first, but the higher we went, the more difficult it was. We finally made it to the top, didn't have a pen to sign the register, the dog cut his foot on a rock, it was snowing and we ran out of water. It is very rocky at the top. We had planned to summit Tebeguache on the same day, but due to our mishaps, we decided to save Tebeguache for another day.

Blanks Gulch and Tabegauche traverse!  Sucess!

Looked like storms were coming and the forecast called for it but we got lucky and finished em both in 6 1/2 hours car to car.

Surprise on Shavano  Sucess!

Via Blank Gulch. Here I am in this jungle again. Guess who magically appears at the top? My fantasy lover mountain man...you gotta watch this guy...he's sneaky.
Couldn't get over to Tab...weird clouds and tired friends.

Anyways. Made both summits, Good day
