sunny and not much wind - expected a lot worse
First successful summit of the Rockies! 2nd 14er ever... -15F or so with wind chill... Very windy on the ridge, made everything exposed hurt until we became numb. Lots of snow to play in on the way down!!
In a baby backpack. Will return to ski Iowa Gulch some time.
Not very crowded since it was a weekday. Great views with fall colors out!
Summited Sherman from Iowa Gulch after summiting Mt. Antero on a fair weather afternoon while everyone else was heading down. It was my 10th 14er summit achieved on 7 hikes during my 7 day stay in the area.
Went up the Fourmile route, and included Sheridan and Gemini. Perfect day to be out. On Sheridan and Gemini we had total solitude; Sherman was a total assembly line. It was still good, though, with amazing views in every direction.
Via Fourmile, with Gemini
Left Boulder at 4:30, at Fourmile Creek TH by 7:00, on summit by 9:30. Great weather and nice mountain with fantastic views.
Started at around 11am (so professional)... Got up quickly with some strong wind and fog but no lightning.
Sherman, followed by Gemini Peak and Dyer Mountain and then the standard afternoon T-storm
A good hike to stretch the legs.
Climbed with my son Jonathan. Enjoyed the summit more than I expected I might!
Had an interesting climb up and ski down Mount Sherman during the "spring" -- that said, there was blowing snow and zero visibility, so it felt more like winter.
Cloudy and windy all day, except the sun broke out just as we summited. Excellent views of Elbert, Massive, and the Sawatch Range. Decided to climb Sheridan when I got back to the saddle.
Nice winter outing...
South Slope route snowshoe hike from winter trailhead. Strong wind above 13,600'. After summiting Sherman continued on to Gemini. Returned the same way. Nice winter hike, great views.
I climbed this about 5 years ago, and perhaps earlier as well, just forgot to post!
and with my wife. the first time got turned around by lightening this time it was perfect
Nice, easy day on the mountain. A little windy on the summit though!
