An Elk bugled when I stepped onto the trail in the morning. An elk bugled in the afternoon when I stepped off the trail and back onto the road. Never saw anyone that day; just heard the elk. Thanks.

Snow on Sherman
(See trip report) Had strong winds and snow move in and it made the hike a lot more eventful. Watching the weather was incredible! The winds almost blew me off the ridge.

Iowa Gulch
Lame in every way. Did this one on tired legs from the previous day's Tour de Massive. The winds were probably gusting to 60 mph making it difficult to stand up let alone walk. Not a fun hike, more of a mission to not be defeated by the wind.

Iowa Gulch TH Ascend West Slopes
Pretty nice hike especially through the wild flowers near the trail head. We met a bunch of boy scouts - whining on the way up, having fun on the way down - being encouraged by their leaders, who, I might add, were doing the "real" suffering!

Winds were blowing hard and that made it slightly harder, but it wasn't too bad. We had an awesome glissade on the large snowfield between Mount Sherman and Mount Sheridan.

I live near Four Mile Crick right here in Butler Co. Ohio, but it's nothing to write home about.

Ooooooooooooooooooh the scree! This is indeed scree territory so watch out for twisting ankles. RMdaytripsgrl is correct when she said that Sherman "is completely destroyed by old mining activity." My friend couldn't help himself so he took a dump in one of the mining shacks. Grosss!!
Best thing to see on the summit ridge is Mount Sheridan. At the time of our 4th of July climb, Sheridan has a "$" sign on its slope and I snapped a pic :) I really looked like a dollar sign!
This was an awesome experience. Went with wilderness trek.

From Fourmile Creek
Snowshoes definitely are indicated in April. Snow deep and getting soft. Road was plowed to 1 mile below Leavick. Chris and I climbed Sherman, Gemini, and Dyer this day. Exhausting!

The headwall was still in so I went strait up it. Had a fun glissade on the way down. I met an 83 year old man on the summit who was still out bagging peaks… awesome! Part of a 10 day 18 14,000 ft. summit solo climbing trip.

I would rate this one as the easiest (that I've done). Still it was beautiful. Saw lots of cute marmots.

Not much to say about this one. You could land a plane on this summit.
