Main Trail  Sucess!

28 Sep 2006 - A nice hike with a fun scramble to the top. Nice vertical relief down to the valley.

11 May 2007 - Great day. Decided to cruise up with some "extra" weight for training. Lots of people out enjoying the hike.

Main Trail  Sucess!

Quite a bit of snow, scramble to top was very icy and dangerous in a few places. Great views, beautiful day!

finally, a summit  Sucess!

I couldn't tell how many times that I have hiked up to the summit plateau on si and never climbed the haystack. today was great for a scramble and si needed to get checked off the list. no wind, too many bugs on top. fotunately, none that bite.

4X  Sucess!

Hiked up 4X. Definately a hill not a mountain. Good training though. My best time was 3:41 and my worst was just under 4 hours car to car. Extremely popular.

Mt. Si Main Trail  Sucess!

We left the house at 3am. Then reached the TH at 6:30am and started hiking about the same time. Made the summit at 10am with no one else around. After the summit we went over to the other peak and got some more pictures. Then slowly walked back to the TH and got there at 2pm. Good hike and fun scramble. Weather was hazy and partly cloudy.

Main Trail  Sucess!

I started at 4:30 in the morning so by the time I reached the top the sun was just starting to come up. It was an awsome view. I felt like I was on a little island because all around we was fog as far as I could see.

Nasty weather  Sucess!

Day started off alright, but kept getting cloudier and more ominous. We got to the top just as the rain started up, took the obligatory picture, and started running! (Rain finally stopped about when we got to Snag Flat, but by then we were soaked to the bone.)

Also climbed on July 17, 2004.

Avoid the Lemmings  Sucess!

This is a great quick hike during the week if you want to avoid the weekend lemming outings! Avoid this hike during the busy weekends unless you enjoy following the boots of the person in front of you.

Good old Si  Sucess!

This was the second time I climbed Si. It was still a fun hike. I climbed it with the guy bellow me, Kyle. We tried to climb teneriffe but it was too snowy. We definetely needed crampons or snow shoes. It was a fun hike none the less.

Almost snow-free  Sucess!

We had initially hoped to climb both Teneriffe and Si, but the amount of snow above 3000 ft. on the Teneriffe Road made Si the only summit of the day. Very minimal snowpack on Si, scramble is about 95% snowfree. The temps at the top with windchill I'd estimate at about 30F, pretty cold considering it was about 55F at the trailhead elevation at the time.

Hmmm . . .  Sucess!

Okay, so this isn't much of a mountain, right? But you have to admit that standing on the summit and looking West at downtown Seattle is a nice reminder of why you live in the NW.

Will Stout Gig  Sucess!

However,a few of us jokers went went
half way up it.
All of you hikers don't forget your cameras.

Main trail from parking lot  Sucess!

Ten degrees below freezing starting out in the morning. Lots of ice on the trail. I fell once. Not as many people as during the summer.

Nice day hike on a rare day off... views were incredible from the summit, reaching all the way to (I think) the Willapa Hills in Southwestern Washington. Scramble was nice, though coming down can be a bit tricky.

Route Climbed: Main Trail Date Climbed: 10/21/05  Sucess!

Two of my friends and I hit the trail about 8 and made the summit plateau by 10 or 10:15. We enjoyed the views of Rainier, the entire Olympic Range and the Seattle skyline. Then we decided to do the summit scramble which is listed as a class 3, but is very simple and enjoyable. From the top we had excellent views of Mount Baker and we also believe that we saw Garibaldi in B.C. as well as The Willapa hills on the Pacific Ocean. Unfortunately. Teneriffe Mountain blocked Glacier Peak and Mount Stuart which would ahve been very visable.

Route Climbed: Main Trail Date Climbed: September 20, 2005  Sucess!

I decided to wrap up summer break with an easy climb of Mount Si today. I felt strong and kept a quick pace, reaching Snag Flats after a half hour and the summit area in 1 hour 10 minutes. I had the Haystack all to myself for 40 minutes, but clouds concealed most of the views. Passed several dozen UW students on the way down.

Route Climbed: Regular Trail Date Climbed: 28 August 2005  Sucess!

Had a nice hike today. As usual, went straight to the top of the haystack once I reached the plateau. Very nice day - could see pretty far at times. Was a little chilly at the top of the haystack - but not very windy.
