With Maria. Lots of hikers on the Divide, going to Sniktau, or Grizzly, or elsewhere. It was a little breezy and cool, but not bad. Clouds started building up during the hike, but we didn't get any rain.

Cold and windy
It was a cold, windy day with still a far amount of snow on the ground. Hiked it with Mike and his dog Pearl and my dog Loki.

Beautiful Day
Only person out there except for one skier. This was before the snow starting picking up this year and it was a very manageable climb except for the wind chill.

My First 13er
5/31/2017-------Mount Sniktau and “Cupid” Peak: Colorado----13,235’ and 13, 117’
This is my first 13er and I’m not going to lie; I was intimidated before we began this hike. I could feel that my breathing was labored last night as soon as we got to Georgetown. At 8500’ this would be the highest that I’ve ever slept before. So then the ride to the trailhead also freaked me out a little. Yikes!!!!!! The twists and turns!!!
Onto the hike…….Scott and I left the trailhead at 6:30am. The temperature was in the low 30s and there was snow everywhere! We began up to the main ridge, which is crazy steep! We labored but we were able to get to the T-junction (Pt. 12,915) in a very decent time. It was here that we met 69 year old Richard Scott. We would take turns overtaking one another but sharing stories and chatted about the hike each time we passed. Great conversation with someone who has been hiking these mountains since the 1950s! As far as I could tell we were the only ones to summit at this point in the morning and we didn’t pass anyone on the way back down either.
Turning left we went over towards Sniktau and it seemed very easy until we got to the false summit. The real summit was quite steep but there was no reason to put on the microspikes, the snow was still pretty firm but not slick. We would summit Sniktau at 8:52am. Richard Scott summited about 10 minutes later and we shared more stories. What an amazing hike!!!! I’m almost 30 years old and this is the most snow that I’ve ever seen in my life!
From here we headed back down to the T-junction and stayed straight to go towards “Cupid.” The route was very straight forward and we summited at 10:47am.
On the way back down the mountain it started snowing on us!!!! Perfect trip!!!
o Begin at 11,990’, summit Sniktau at 13,234’, back down to Pt. 12,915, then summit “Cupid” at 13, 117’.
o 7 miles round trip
o Combined total of over 2200’ of elevation gain.

Sniktau
January 20 2020
On my way to Denver, I stopped at Loveland Pass and climbed Mount Sniktau. Conditions were pretty good and it was mild for January. It was overcast so I didn't stick around to watch the sunset.
August 14 2016
Shaylee, Kessler, Kimberly and I climbed Mount Sniktau and Cupid Peak from Loveland Pass. We got a fairly late start, but the weather was beautiful. There was some smoke and haze in the air, but there was no threat of thunderstorms.
We climbed Sniktau first, passing over unranked 13,152 along the way. Along the way we saw one marmot and many pikas.
After climbed Sniktau, we returned to Wishbone Pass and climbed Cupid. We watched an entertaining marmot on the summit while we were eating our lunch. Kim didn't want to continue on to Grizzly Peak, so we returned. Kim and I took the bypass trail around Wishbone Trail, while the kids took the longer way over Wishbone Pass again. We met at the junction.
It was a good hike.
