Checking that I70 backup
Great, quick hike on the way back to the airport. We only had so much time but with the views of I70 running fast we decided we could make the top. Weather was moving in on our way down.

Fall Day Hike
Left Denver early and was at the summit by 10:00 AM. Beautiful day

Decided to hike this after Grays and Torreys since it was such an outstanding day regarding weather. Was hoping to nab Grizzly too to complete a 4-bagger but the thought of a very overdue late lunch drew me back down to the car.

a spectacular day in the mountains
Janey Butterworth and I enjoyed a beautiful break from the gloomy weather that gripped the metro area over the holiday weekend. The scenery on this climb was spectacular, and we had a perfect weather day. Cloud formations were dramatic, and the terrain was the greenest I have ever seen this late in the season in Colorado.

Southwest Ridge
Rush and I got in a last climb before leaving for our Denali trip. High winds, blowing snow and low to zero vis was the name of the game on the upper half of the route.

30th
This hike was part of my belated 30th birthday celebration trip. I skied at A Basin on Friday, then hiked Sniktau on Saturday. I ate my only birthday cake this year, a Hostess cupcake, on the summit in the freezing wind. I would have liked to have gotten Grizzly as well, but that will have to wait for another trip....I had ski traffic to beat down to Denver!

I can't believe the weather we had today. Bluebird skies, just amazing. Granted, it was plenty cold and, of course, insanely breezy en route to Sniktau. But, all in all, the weather was fabulous. Hiking partner: Jill.

Winter climb
Very cold and windy, not much snow, the East side has some very steep looking terrain and a fragile looking cornice.

First 13er
My first 13er. Probably a great starter mountain and trainer. It kicked my butt, especially on the way down, but this is exactly what I was looking for on my path to getting in better shape and training for some 14ers.

Memorable hike due to tailbone injury!
This a great, short hike for getting into the winter summit game. I'll never forget my trip. My partner returned to the car after about 20 minutes because it was so cold and windy. I pressed on alone. When I got to the summit I really had to pee and had no choice but to drop my drawers in the bitter cold. The wind knocked me over in the process and I bruised my tailbone pretty badly. I think my butt was frozen though because I didn't feel it until after the hike! I still laugh when I think about it.

One of my favorite places to train...Great place to when you only have an hour or two to get away...or to get a quick workout in before heading down to A-basin.
