Passed over on the way to Evans. Took a 15 minute cat nap on the flat summit boulder on the way back down. Relaxing!
First 13er/14er after ACL reconstruction in mid March
Quite a slog through the marsh and willows. Got pretty wet since it rained the night before.
Started with Spalding from Summit Lake
This is more a variation on the standard west slope route because we had to backtrack from the cirque and shoot up a steep but stable slope. We had to work for this one. Dealing with the bog on ascent and descent was nothing compared with bushwhacking through the willows. On our way down, thought we'd never get out. Spalding's views make up for the pain though.
Headed over to this easy summit as an after-thought on the way back to the car. Bierstadt/Sawtooth and Evans on same trip.
Climbed from Summit Lake. Was my first peak to climb. Needless to say, it was love at first sight.
Hiked up to Summit Lake from the trailhead at Echo Lake and past the Chicago Lakes. Summited Spalding and Evans
Spalding made for an easy summit on the descent after bagging the Snave Rt. on Evans.
This was the 14er finisher parade for Britt and Paul. Over Goliath, Rogers, Warren, Spalding, W Evans, and finally Evans.
First time around the loop this way. Started from Echo Lake.
climbed with Mount Evans.
via Sunrise Couloir. Loved it!
With Evans & "West Evans".
Several people passed right below the summit of Spalding without pause. This loop route from Summit Lake with Spalding and Evans is scenic and pleasant. Cool, crisp, sunny September weather was icing on the cake. Partner: Husband.
Bagged Spalding and continued on to Evans. Great views of Summit Lake and surrounding area.
Standard hike up the ridge, this was my first high elevation hike coming from MN on recent trip.
I climbed the peak with my mom, dad and brother on July 2 2009. See the 2009 Trip Log for details.
