Beautiful Sunshiny Day  Sucess!

Gorgeous summer day. Not a cloud in the sky. Although no sunflowers were blooming this early, we happened to picked a weekend where all the cacti in the area (including the summit area) had huge yellow flowers. Also, surprisingly pretty views of the prairie-lands from the summit.

Cows  Sucess!

Got stopped by a state trooper on the way in and won a pricey ticket for speeding, but made it to the high point without much confusion. Stalked some cows on the prairie.

Loved the Sunflower setup  Sucess!

The actual High Point monument itself was my favorite so far. Otherwise, just rolling farms around us, similar to Nebraska. State HP #22

HP #22  Sucess!

A great little setup. Nice, considering it's a long ride with no hike to speak of.

2nd of the day  Sucess!

some sunflowers by the road, but not any at the actual high point. Good reward for a nice long day of driving.

A hot day in Kansas  Sucess!

A scorcher of a day - 100's throughout the region. But a nice drive along quite a few dusty roads that my gps didn't know about, and I somehow managed to find it - then relied on instinct to get me on a main road back to Colorado...

Cool artwork there, signed the log... I wonder if anyone really checks those things or does anything with them...

#6  Sucess!

Atleast all the dirt roads were fairly smooth. Worth seeing a part of the country that I wouldn't have seen otherwise.

Nice drive  Sucess!

We parked at the cattle guard so we would at least have a nice walk to stretch our legs. This “summit” fits in the category of a drive across country we otherwise wouldn’t have seen.

HP #19  Sucess!

After climbing Elbert in CO the day before, I was ready for an easy one! Thanks to the property owners for their hospitality! If you take your time and look around, there really is a lot to see! (just watch where you step)

Mount?  Sucess!

Buffalo, cattle and antelope. What it lacks in height, it makes up for in creativity at the summit.

Family High Point  Sucess!

This was our family's third high point. We took a detour during our trip to Utah to visit Mount Sunflower. It was a great break for the kids to stretch their legs after nine hours on the road. Every place has it's unique beauty, and Mt. Sunflower was very enjoyable.
