Glen Alpine
Another rehab outing for my broken ankle (16 weeks ago) and my second trip up Tallac. Nice cool September morning and I had the trail and the summit to myself on the way up. Passed over 50-75 people on the way down.

Mt Tallac Trail
Started early to avoid the crowds. Beautiful day and great views. ~ 4.5 hrs car to car.

Route Climbed: Cathedral Lake
Perfectly clear weather all day. Wind kicked in as soon as I climbed out of the bowl above Cathedral Lake, but died down when I was on the summit. Leisurely 7-hour round trip
Went early in morning, not so crowded and had summit to ourselves. On way down passed hurds of people heading up. A not so hard hike with great views.

My first "real" summit
A kind stranger coaxed me into summiting (thank you, stranger!) I also met "1000 Peaks" at the summit. Way better than the view from my couch! Tallac inspired me to explore more peaks!
Hiked up from Aloha Lake where I was camping w/a few friends. Made for a long day, but the views from the top are worth it! There were a few suspicious clouds in the sky, so when my hair started standing straight up, the ~20(!) people at the summit high-tailed it down in a stampede.

SE chutes
Another training climb with Vendulka - hauled 40-60 lbs packs... great weather and actually fun snow climb. I never get tired of the views from the summit.

Moonlit Path
Second trip to the top of Tallac. This time it was done by moonlight and headlamp. Great full moon hike on a warm summer night.
Went with a firend who claimed to know the way, and lied; bushwhacked the first third, then found a trail. Very mellow, very beautiful. Watch out for flys.
Route Climbed: Cathedral Lake Date Climbed: January 8, 2006
(August 2, 2008) Climbed from Lily Lake TH as part of a traverse over to Dicks Peak and Jacks Peak.
(January 8, 2006) Great weather the entire day. Almost no wind at all. Did the entire thing with snow shoes, however there was some pretty solid ice on the exposed face leading up to the back side of Tallac.
Route Climbed: SE Chutes Date Climbed: December 4, 2005
After bailing on the NE ridge due to insufficent snow and way too much bushwacking, we hiked/snowshoed the SE Chutes to the summit. Spent the night on the South ramp at ~8800' and tagged the summit in the morning.
Route Climbed: Stanford camp spur/Mt Tallac trail to Glen Alpine Date Climbed: October 22, 2005
My girlfriend JoAnn and I did this as a loop. Leaving our car at the Glen Alpine Trailhead, we walked back down the road to Stanford Sierra Camp. Climbed the steep, brushy trail from Stanford camp to join the main Tallac trail just short of Cathedral Lake. Had a great hike to the summit, then returned to the Glen Alpine trailhead via Gilmore Lake. Beautiful fall day, only marred by a little smoke from a controlled burn.
Route Climbed: Mount Tallac trail Date Climbed: August 2000
A nice day hike up from Lake Tahoe. The views from the top are awesome with the whole desolation wilderness to the west and Lake Tahoe to the east. The summit pyramid is a nice little scramble. This looks like it would be great in the winter.

Glen Alpine TrailAugust 2003: It's an easy walk-up, but I really enjoyed it. The wildflowers were great and the views were equally good.
