via Gooseberry Springs Trail  Sucess!

Fun hike on a beautiful day. Not too hot, even though the high in Abq was 94 that day. For a GPS track of the trail, click here.

Quad  Sucess!

Summited at the mid-point of the 2007 Quad. What a great race. I also met fellow SPer Jason Halladay at the race.

Quad Fun  Sucess!

I've been to the top of Taylor twice, both times while running, biking, skiing, and snowshoeing in the Quadrathlon. Great race!

Via Gooseberry Springs Trail  Sucess!

We had difficulty in finding the trailhead. We missed the trail sign twice and drove back and forth. Later during the hike, we we followed by two hunters who thought we were mule deer. We eventually heard them in the forest also and thought that they were the deer. Eventually, we all met on the meadows and had a good laugh.
Pleasant hike and a nice warm up before Wheeler Peak the next day. The slideshow from our hike is here, enjoy:

Snow white and the 9 older gents  Sucess!

I arrived at night and found that the road was a bit hinky about a mile from the trailhead for the Gooseberry Spring trail so I parked and in the morning I found another road (FR195, which is not marked at it's beginning but is two miles before the Goosebery Trail head) and took that. This led to a bushwhack, which would not surprise anyone who knows me as I often end up off-trail. This led to finding interesting stuff, like "bearing trees" and bears and a race track. Made it to the top to find 9 older gents finishing up lunch. Went down the Trail to see what I had missed and got a lift back to my car. Thanks Frank for the great gorp- it lasted for the rest of my trip.
Walk in Beauty.

I am adding this edit as I see that many people have difficulty finding the trail head.

The trail-head is well marked, there are like three signs, a small parking area big enough for at least 6-8 cars and when I was there someone had laid down white gravel for the first 10 feet of the trail, making it stand out.

I did not get to the trail-head on my visit as I was unsure if my car would make it- there were alot of pot holes and rocks in the road. The problem is that the scenery is a knock out- I think people are just not paying attention. I followed the directions off this page and found them to be spot on.

Route Climbed: Trail 77 (Gooesberry Springs Trail) Date Climbed: September 7, 2005  Sucess!

Like the previous poster, I too had difficulty finding the trailhead. After finally finding it, here's my advice:

The only sign is on the left hand side of the road (FR193) where the trailhead is (and it's a small sign that just says 77). However, the parking is directly across on the right side of the road (easily mistaken for a pullout or a camping spot). The trailhead is just after the "sharp turn"....If FR193 diverges with FR193 to the right and FR-Something-Else to the left then you've gone too far.

Other than that a pretty nice hike. Only saw 2 other people.

Clouds partially obscured the view, but an excellent hike nonetheless. Would be nice to do in the winter.

Route Climbed: Gooseberry Springs Trail Date Climbed: January 1994  Sucess!

Climbed on a beautiful winter day with Dave Napiwocki. We thought we might ski from the summit but, when we arrived at the trail head, we realized there wasn't enough snow. Ended up enjoying a farely snow-free hike for most of the trail, except for a few remaining drifts near the summit.
