Very nice summit  Sucess!

Heavy snow year, so some of the trail in woods was lost in the snow. Solo trad lead 1 pitch to summit and anchored rope for others coming up later on. Great view, great day, fun class 4 rock. Bathed in Diamond Lake afterwards. Very enjoyable!

Solo  Sucess!

Only one car in the parking lot, guy was going down as I went up. I didn't have any information about the trail or climb except the map at the trailhead, so I wasn't expecting to make the summit. Snow on the trail through the trees, absolutely NOBODY around, made it up the ridge and scouted the summit. Went up one way and saw certain death on the NW ridge, then went around the SE side and Class 4ed my ass up. Definitely some exposure but the holds are nice. Super stoked to make the top. Nice day with incredible views, a little over 3 hours up. The decent included face planting in the snow after sliding on my feet a little too fast, and losing the trail in the snow, but getting back on with about a mile to go.

Lightening Rod of The Cascades  Sucess!

This is one of those climbs that you can do without a rope, but you kind of wished you had one halfway up, and especially to rap down on. Great climb - very small summit with 6 people on it.

Labor Day weekend 2010  Sucess!

Had a fantastic time climbing, managed to get a group of 9 up and down safely. Set a fixed line on the way up and used a second rope for a rap down. Fantastic weather for the majority of the day with a couple of clouds rolling over the summit as we descended the scree. Even with a 7AM start there were plenty of people in line to head up the summit block, ended up taking an extra couple of hours beyond the estimated round trip time.

West Ridge  Sucess!

Dan Butler and I made our first climb of Mt. Thielsen. Made a quick trip down to climb before the fall rainy season kicked in.
Nice climb and good rock on the summit pinnacle. Rain on our way home.

Polar Opposites  Sucess!

Tried this on June 10, 2009 and was caught in a snow/hail storm along the ridge. Came back One month later to a successful summit off of an alpine start (immediately after a full days work and full night's drive down from Portland) on what would become a 104 degree day.

Awesome climbing, great views  Sucess!

Thielsen was the last climb I did while I was working for the Forest Service in the Umpqua National Forest. Climbed with my buddies from the Botany department and our other friend, who happened to be doing Wilderness Patrol that day. We got good beta, so we didn't bring a rope or any pro, none needed. Just have faith that all the holds are there. Really fun climb to the top and nice summit pinnacle.

Last major Oregon volcano  Sucess!

This was my last major Oregon volcano climbed, and a fun one. We roped up for it having never been here before, which probably wasn't necessary, but made it fun.
Second time took my teenage son, his friend, and dad up - definitely roped them up.

By far the best climb yet  Sucess!

Camped at the trail head then started hiking early in the morning. The best part is the last 80 feet! craziest climb iv done yet, but well worth it!

Not so sure what the date was on this one, only that it was in August with my friend Scott. We got to the summit in less than three hours.

4th time  Sucess!

This was my last climb of the mountain in 2007, went solo and got to the summit in 2:45, by far my best time. All told, took me a hair over five hours to do the whole thing, car to car.

2nd time  Sucess!

This was my triumphant return to Thielsen, nearly ten years after my 1st climb. Went with Mike, my companion on the first, and his friend Art. What I remember the most is the hundreds of thousands of butterflies swarming the mountain that day.

1st climb ever!  Sucess!

This was my very first climb, full of adventure and craziness! My friend Mike first accidentally let his car roll off the embankment at the Apple Creek Trailhead, but luckily some hunters came by with a winch and pulled us out. I remember being terrified by the climb (ropeless) and the downclimb especially. I was hooked, though, and will always remember this particular climb.
