Great day of scrambling SE ridge Audubon > Paiute Peak > Mt Toll.
An awesome mountain that is just shy of 13,000 feet. It has a nice summit shape. You can take excellent photos from Blue Lake. It is a great day hike.
Awesome peak with a somewhat tedious climb to the top. Not sure if we took the path of least resistance, but it was still an unforgettable experience.
Audubon to Paiute to Toll traverse
The pup and I from Long Lake Trailhead. Came over from Pawnee and then strolled back over to Shoshoni.
Great climb, one of my favorites. Caught in August snow storm on summit but otherwise a classic alpine climb.
Trail head to summit in two hours. Made it back to Boulder in time to climb The Young and the Rackless in BC. An unforgettable day.
Finished up with Toll after Little Pawnee and Pawnee East Ridge. Big storms rolling in. Great day with lots of solitude for August.
Started near Brainard Lake, took the Niwot Cutoff to Long Lake and then up to Pawnee Pass. From there headed up to the summit of Pawnee Peak, and down to the saddle between Pawnee and Toll. The south slope of Toll looked a lot steeper than it actually turned out to be. Headed back to the Pawnee-Toll saddle and then headed down to Blue Lake.
Came from Little Pawnee to Pawnee and the over to Shoshone. Beautiful day but WINDY!
Nice hike from Blue Lake, excellent view from top.
Rained on us on way dow, overall great alpine climb.
Added Toll to the day after Audubon & Paiute via the nw face in a minor snowstorm. There's only a few class 3 moves to be had on this route and I was fine with that as the rock was slick. Continued on to Pawnee.
w/ D. Haumschild. Car 8:00am - Summit 11:30am. Beautiful day in a beautiful cirque.
Climbed via the North Ridge(ish). This has always been on of my favorite mountains as it was the site of my first mountaineering experience (and epic failure, of course).
I highly recommend the NE ridge route - classic second pitch!
Climbed on rock from the Pawnee Peak/Mount Toll saddle. Took advantage of the near continuous snow on the descent to Blue Lake - good standing glissade practice!
Still lots of snow to be had on the route. Cloudy day kept the snow pretty hard, even icy in spots! Axe/crampons necessary on the snowfield, but plenty of exposed rock to get around if you don't have them. Climbed on good snow from Blue Lake to about 200 ft below summit. Last 100 ft of snow is thinning and started punching through. Great day. Fun glissade!
still lots of snow in the Blue Lake Basin. Great day.
After being involved in an accident on Mt Toll in '05, it was great to be able to climb it finally on such a beautiful day.
Great way to spend the 4th of July. We had the mountain to ourselves for a short while. Lots of snowboarders in the basin. Great day and great weather!
