Last peak of the day  Sucess!

This was my last of three peaks; Avalon, Field, and then Tom. Not to much to see at the top, since it was quite foggy and rainy by the time we got there.

First mountain of the day  Sucess!

Eighty seven minutes from the parking lot. The snow and ice slowed me a bit but once I passed a duo and a quartet I had the trail to myself for all four mountains for the rest of the day.

Route Climbed: Avalon-A-Z  Sucess!

Hiked a Willey, Tom, Field, Avalon overnight backpack. Watched the sun set and rise. Perfect weekend.

Highland Center  Sucess!

Climbed Tom as part of a trip through the Willey Range. Started at the highland center, up the Avalon Trail to Field, then out to Willey and Back, then over to Tom. Windy with clouds, so no good views. It started raining heavily on my way down, so poncho and headlamp.

easy winter hike  Sucess!

16" of fresh snow and Thanksgiving Day made this hike pretty quiet!

almost lost my dog  Sucess!

It was snowing on the way up, and I had a cold that made me lose my voice. I couldn't call to my dog, who ran ahead to the summit and then went off into the woods. I couldn't find her. I ran down the mountain, and she was in the parking lot of the Highland Center. BAH.

It's a peak  Sucess!

Better views on Field...deceivingly long to this summit. Good views, lots of searching to find the best spot. In 5 years views might be gone due to pines.

4 in 1 Day  Sucess!

With Flanders, up the A-Z Trail on a wonderfully sunny morning. Hit the Tom summit spur, made the summit and took some pictures. Neat viewpoint to the right split of the trail near the summit. Back down and on to Field.

2nd 4000'!  Sucess!

Really windy at the top, but a great hike. We decided to trow Field and Avalon in after this one.

It's off the list  Sucess!

Did this, Field, and Willey in about 6 hours, and we were not moving fast. It's close to the road and a pretty easy hike. The views are OK. I've been saving the "easy" hikes for last on my 4,000 footer quest.

Mount Tom  Sucess!

Climbed with Field, Willey and Avalon via the Willey Range Trail from Crawford Notch. A very pleasent hike up. Saw at least a dozen or so toads during the ascent. Good views of the Presidential Range and of the Pemigewasset Wilderness from the blowdown area near the summit.
