Cloudy Day  Sucess!

Beautiful but cloudy day on Mt. Townsend. Wish I could have seen the views. The trail was in great shape. A nice hike that I hope to do again on a clear day.

Perseid meteor shower  Sucess!

Camped just below the summit to watch the Perseid meteor shower. Great views of all the cities on the Puget Sound at night; we had the whole mountain to ourselves the whole night

Beautiful Day  Sucess!

With Luna on a warm Fall day. Up in about 1 hour 45 minutes. Great views from the other Olympics to Victoria to Baker to Glacier to Seattle. Easier than I thought it would be so we added on Zion after this one to get 4000+ feet in today.

Beautiful Day  Sucess!

Decided at the last minute to drive from Olympia and do Townsend finally. I got there pretty late, and charged up. The views were stupendous. I could see every volcano from Baker to Hood. A rewarding hike for the amount of effort required, I'll be back.

Last minute hike  Sucess!

Was supposed to go kayaking in the sound but it was blowing a good 45 knots so opted for a hike instead. Was a blast with some good snow cover on top (brand new as we were hiking) and the winds made the summit more intense. Short beautiful views through the cloud cover.

Great views of Seattle  Sucess!

Topped out with 30 of my closest friends in a Troop 230 afternoon outing from Camp Parsons. Cooked chicken wraps for dinner at a beautiful overlook. We love the Olympics

Towsend via Dirty Face  Sucess!

cloud-hidden, whereabouts unknown

Took the Dirty Face Ridge trail on July 4. Rhodies were in full bloom. Great day hike. Lots of people on top for the 4th.

Summit via North Trailhead  Sucess!

Good day trip up from the northern, higher trailhead. Nice walk up through the trees and out on top. Beautiful sun all day long, a little hazy for far off views but into the Olympics was beautiful. More people than I have been used to in my Olympic travels but a good hike nonetheless.

Day hike  Sucess!

One of my all time favorite day hikes. I've done this hike at least five times and the view from the summit never gets old.

Great views  Sucess!

There is snow on the road starting at the cutoff for the lower trailhead. We managed to drive to the upper trail head with chains and 4x4. It will not take much more snow to make this impassible. Due to the lengthy temperature inversion, there is not a huge amount of snow and the trail is solid ice. I used crampons for the hike. Some sort of traction device is needed. I popped above the clouds at about 5000ft and the views were amazing. Total time round trip was around 5 hrs.
