Adventure Consultants guide JB and fellow team members Valentin, Gary, Mike and Charles on the frigid wind-chilled summit in 7.5 hours from high camp. An experience which was unforgettable.
After a 6 day delay at Union Glacier, we were a little rushed to get up the mountain.Luckily there was great weather high on the mountain and we enjoyed a beautiful summit day with clear skies, no wind, and lots of sunshine! Woke up Dec 31 at high camp and descended to base camp which which was under the clouds. At around 9:30 pm there was a break in the weather and we were told to pack up for a flight back to Union. Landed before midnight and enjoyed an ice bar and dancing till the wee hours at the best New Year's eve party ever!!!
I could live at Union Glacier...
Duncan Chessell led an Aussie team on an exploratory trip to the Dater glacier, climbing 3 previously unclimbed mountains and a new route on Vinson named ANZAC ridge.
Climbed Mt. Vinson after waiting for eight days in high camp in the mega storm!
What a place!
