Also, you wrote:

Half the mountain is in the same watershed, yet has trails and roads, and of course the skiers use the ski trails... I think somebody is treating you like a mushroom. I can find no mention of such a prohibition, what is your source?

Site of Massachusetts State Downhill

On March 6, 1966, I broke my back near the bottom of the Pine Hill Trail while competing in the Massachusetts State Downhill championships as a freshman member of the MIT Ski Team. I was the second of three bad crashes near the same spot on the course. The race was cancelled for lack of toboggans for any additional injuries, and I understand in subsequent years the race was moved to the Balanced Rock Trail.
