Mount Washburn

Mount Washburn

Better viewed in "Orig" after reading the caption. Seen from Druid Peak. The Lamar Valley is below. Unfortunately, a tour bus is also visible if you look closely. Had I noticed it at that time, I would have waited until it was out of view before taking this picture. Washburn is probably the easiest high summit to reach in Yellowstone. It is a three-mile trail hike with about 1500' of elevation gain. Because of that, and because of the lookout on top that is virtually a visitors center, it is a popular hike and not recommended for those who like solitude unless they start out very early in the day. Specimen Ridge is between Washburn and the valley. Absaroka Range; Yellowstone National Park, WY-- July 2010
