No Time This Time  Sucess!

We were just passing through the area and had no time for a hike. We drove up Auto Road and spent an hour checking out the views and snapping photos. What a spectacular day. Visibility was 75+ miles in all directions. Of course people were swarming everywhere. Very busy day. I can't wait to hit this summit on foot!

I have hiked, skied, ice climbed and rock climbed on Mount Washington over the years. I've had a lot of fun there and I hope to continue to have great days there in the future

Tuckerman/Lion Head  Sucess!

We climbed up Tuckerman Ravine Trail and descended Lion Head Trail. Visibility was great below about 5500 feet. Socked in good above that. We had a great time and stayed for two nights at Joe Dodge Lodge. Next trip I'm going to do Huntington Ravine!

My, it's cold up there!  Sucess!

Ok. Hands down. Coldest I've ever been. Winds were 70mph. Went up Lions Head Trail. The next winter it took 3 days to summit (going through the Great Gulf). The snow was seriously deep. This was the hardest thing I've ever done to date. It was exhausting. (Like climbing a sand dune in snowshoes!) We climbed it maybe 5-6 times more in the winter and summitted 2-3 times. Went up one year and turned around due to whiteout & whipping winds. Great Great fun!

Tuckerman Ravine Trail  Sucess!

Although the visability was 25' on the Summit it was still a fantastic climb, and a huge adventure. Just what the doctor ordered. Stayed at Hermit Lake 2 nights. Summitted Mt. Monroe via Boott Spur on day 2. Conditions nearly identical. Low visability, wind chill around 15 or so. Sleet, rain and snow.Summer in the Whites.

Right of Right Gully  Sucess!

Cold clear sunny day and low risk of avalanches. Nice firm snow enabled us to kick steps. Watched a group of riders and skiers come down around us but otherwise it was a quiet day in Tux. Summited Washington in strong wind, still clear sunny skies - a gift!

Route Climbed: Huntington Ravine, Descent: Lion's Head Trail  Sucess!

My first ascent up Washington, and wow was it a beauty! Had great weather, blue skies, and wonderful views around us. The scrambling up Huntington was a blast. Enjoyed a brief lunch at the summit house, and then made our way down the Lion's Head Trail, arriving at the trailhead 7 hours after our start. I can't say enough about this area...the views of the ravines were stunning!

Presidential Traverse  Sucess!

Crossed over the summit as part of a South to North Presidential Traverse. Stopped inside to eat our lunch. Very windy (80 mph gusts) and chilly (40's). The summit was in the clouds most of the day so no views while we were on it. Only views were looking back at the summit from Adams later.

Pushed off by 0 Vis

Unsuccessful attempt of south gully. Hiked up in the rain and once we hit the base of huntington the fog rolled in way too thick. Be back once the snow starts to fall thats for sure.

Tuckerman's  Sucess!

A nice climb, but the visitor center at the summit is an unfortunate reality.
