"After the first glass, you see things as you wish they were. After the second, you see things as they are not. Finally, you see things as they really are, which is the most horrible thing in the world."

With Hidden PeakTBH - the views were vastly better from Hidden or any of the limestone outcrops between the two peaks. Still a great ridge hike, though.

Windy dayup there but no Windy Peak. Next time maybe. Hiked up to Mountain Springs Peak with Maddie, Rory, and Presley. It was my first summit in the Mountain Springs area, and it really gave me a reason to come back. Will return for Windy soon!

Great views, easy hikeFun, easy hike my wife and I did on a Friday. Didn't see a single soul, and that was fine by us. Clear and cool, the weather was nearly perfect.

5th peak of the dayAfter hiking four peaks on the other side of State Route 159, I decided to head up this one just so I could finish off the day with 5 peaks. There was still snow lingering in the shadows on the north-facing slopes. Nice hour-and-a-half jaunt.
2nd time Nov. 8th, 2017 with Anji Cerney on our way to Black Velvet Peak.

On way to Black Velvet and points NI was surprised to see a "MacLeod/Lilley" register on top. While pleasant enough, this is really just a big hill; but it is a mellow way to start the traverse to Black Velvet, or the craggier points N.
The road in is badly washed out.

don't forget to stop at the saloon!stumbled on the route description to this peak and was excited to find a place that wasn't likely to be crowded on memorial day weekend and wasn't a real killer climb! what a nice way to spend a sunday afternoon. we took a bit of a silly hillside scree-ish route up, didn't pay as much attention to the gps coordinates as i should have, but even that wasn't too bad. what nice views and we found the faint trail along the ridgeline and made a much more sensible and simple descent and of course stopped at the mountain springs saloon after the hike, it's my favorite bar!
