OverviewGeographical Classification: Eastern Alps - Mürzsteger Alps
Hohe Veitsch is the highest mountain of the Mürzsteger Alpen - located in Styria. The main summit is on westward end a plateau (distance approx. 4 km from east to west) and offers a wide panoramic view to the eastern alps.
Veitsch is a well known ski touring moutain, but also offers nice hikes in summer.
Orientation might be difficult on the plateau under bad weather conditions.

A steep (and potentially dangerous) couloir, that leads from the Veitsch plateau back to the Brunnalm Ski Resort.
This descent requires very good snow condition (Firn) - usually in spring.
Rodel (from North)
quite longer and more difficult
Start at the town of Niederalpl follow some dirt roads (southwards) to Rodel valley. Pass Point 1086m and continue soutwards to the basin between Gr. Wildkamm and Hoher Mücken. Some exposed steps (usually to climb - some old rope and a ladder) lead to the upper valley that continue to the summit plateau (approx. up to 4 hours).
