South Diamond Peak is easily accessed for Backcountry skiing. The summit can be reached within half an hour to three hours from Cameron Pass, making this a popular area for getting good turns in without a long approach. However, since it is a popular place, it has been notorious for having many avalanches. Be safe, have fun!

From Fort Collins, hop onto the CO 14 which will take you west up the Poudre Canyon. It should take about 1.5 - 2 hours to reach the pass, which is marked by a large sign. There is plenty of parking available. The South Diamond will be climber's left.
No red tape.
However, if you are backcountry skiing, make sure you are well prepared for and have a beacon, shovel and probe - along with the knowledge of how to use these tools and test the snow on the slope before skiing it. Be safe and conscious of other skiers.
Always check the CAIC's website before heading out.
Some skiers enjoy spending a couple days out, and this is no problem. Bring warm clothing and stay clear of avalanche danger.
