Another good one, and an important missing link in the Boulder Range. I'll add a link to this page on the Boulder Group.

It's funny, I've been up Flagstaff by car numerous times for bouldering or whatever, but I've never actually been to the summit or actually hiked up it. Hmmm.

Hi Charles,

Yeah, figured I might as well add this one while I was at it :-) I had ridden up the road dozens of times, but never hiked the trail until last weekend (and never been to the actual summit either). I was coming off a bad ankle sprain from a tele-skiing accident and wanted to do something easy to see how it would hold up... seemed like a good candidate.

I think I would actually prefer running this trail to the Sanitas trail simply because it's not so crowded. The downside is that you have to cross the road 6 times (12 times for a round trip).

Thanks!

Having climbed this mountain many times, I can say you have done a fine job. However, you can climb this mountain several ways, other than Gregory Canyon. You can climb for free from the stairs right at the bottom of the road up Flagstaff, or go to the Ravine Lodge towards Green Mountain, and then cut up to Flagstaff road. Once you get there, you realize how many different ways to reach the summit.

Actually, the route I put up is the same one you are referring too... the Flagstaff Mountain Trail, which starts right at the base near Basline/Gregory Canyon Trailhead access road. I mentioned making a loop out of it by returning via Gregory Canyon though, in case someone was looking for more variety.

Thanks for the vote, have a good day!

When I used to ride my bike more regularly, Flagstaff was one of my usual destinations. I don't think I've ever hiked it, though. Thanks for adding it to SP. Now the Boulder Group is complete.

Excellent addition, Chris

One of the peaks in the area that I haven't bagged yet, I guess I better get up there before the republic takes over.

Thanks Grant. I doubt the republic will take this one... but then again a year ago who would have thought they would close 40% of our land?

Anyway, thanks for the vote and have a good weekend!
