Notes on Road and Route

Most people will not want to drive a passenger car on the
last two miles of the road to the pass at 5240- (40).
The road is filled with lava rock in places. It takes
about 20 minutes to drive (each way), and skill
(more than I have :) is needed to avoid hitting the
auto body on rocks.

To save some elevation gain on the route one can sidehill north of points 7552 and 7629. There are very faint Horse trails in spots, but also some of Sagebrush and lava rocks to contend with on these sidehills.
