Nice page--what you've written, and pictures you've posted, makes me want to visit! Also, the Tale of Kralj Matjaz is a good addition to the page--providing a kind of human element to area.

Thanks for reading so thoroughly and for voting! The tale - I knew the outcome from before, but only today I learned the whole story :-)

I haven't read it yet but you get four stars for putting it up. This is the first ever mountain I tried to climb (with my parents when I was 10). Apart from my dad nobody wanted to climb - we would have liked better to go to one of the Carinthean lakes instead. He had to give up and always claimed that only a few steps had been missing...

I should rummage in my mom's slide collection to see if we still have some pictures of that outing. If we do I'm afraid they are of the family pictures variety.

Do you know how high that cable car (isn't it rather a chair lift?) is? That's where we started and it seems ridiculous today that we didn't get to the summit.

led-mines -> lead mines

Thanks, Gangolf! Well, I must admit I don't know the northern side well. From the valley a 'gondelbahn' goes up. And it finishes on the altitude where the hut stands (1692m). But there are also lifts because of skiing in winter. So quite possible that when they operate you can get even higher. Yesterday they were not, so on the summit there were only Slovenians. I saw a kind of station on the northern side higher than 1700m, but nothing was going on there.

Good page, Vid!

I found these names on the Austrian Map:

Kordezeva glava, 2125m = Kordeschkopf. Koncnikov vrh, 2109m = Knieps

Veska kopa, 2074m = Wackendorfer Spitze

Thanks, Klaus! I was looking at the Austrian map in the beginning, later, wher I was writing the text I didn't check names.
