Monte Visolo

Overview

Mount Visolo is the last rock formation of the Presolana peak in south direction, at the border between Seriana and Scalve valley. The visolo is situated in the Orobie Bergamasche Regional Park. From his summit, the view range to the north around the south east Presolana peak edge, at east around Camino Peak, Scalve’s valley mountains until Adamello group, to the south around Monte Pora, and Camonica’s valley mountains, to the west around Corzene peak, Alpe Arera, Mt Alben and Bondione valley. From the summit is possible reach the “Bocchetta di Visolo”, where starts the "Via ferrata al Passo della Porta", and the della Porta’s path, (8th stage of “Sentiero delle Orobie”), until the Rifugio Albani, in the north face of Presolana peak, passing by the east Presolana peak summit, These ways are only for hikers with esperience and alpine equipment. From south Monte Visolo is easily climbed starting from Presolana pass.

Getting There

Motorway A4 Torino Venezia, until Bergamo gate. Then follow for Val Seriana to Clusone, until albergo Spampatti, 1 km before the Presolana Pass, when you can find good parking conditions.

Red Tape

No limitations or special permits are required.

Route

From Spampatti hotel take the path in the forest for malga Cassinelli m. 1568, (about 45 min), open in the summer season with restaurant service. From here take the path CAI n. 316 until the summit. The first part is on grassland until the ridge where you can walk near a precipice on your est. Continue follow the ridge until the base of the final summit. Here the path is a little more precipitous but not heavy, until the summit where you have a great 360° view. Is also possible reaching the summit without following the path. You can see by yourself the best way for you.

Other routes

From malga Cassinelli starts different hiking ways around the Presolana peak. South face of Presolana is a good area for climbing activities.

When to climb

Mount Visolo is easily climbed from this way along all the seasons. In winter is a good mountaineering skiing or snow- shoes way. Pay attention only in case of plentiful snow.

Accomodations

There are various possibilities of accommodation in the area, hotels, seasons house and also a camping area near Presolana pass. In the Ombra valley, at m. 2085, is situated the Città di Clusone bivouac, open all the year, with 9 places. Good Accomodation for great wilderness lovers people

Winter equipment in winter for the summit. Trekking gear from all the other seasons.
