Dobrar Ridgeline:
Dobrar (Ghareh Dagh) Ridgeline is an impressive 52 Km long mountain chain that forms a continuous wall in the southeastern portion of the Central Alborz Mountains of northern Iran. This ridgeline gives rise to more than 20 named peaks and many other unnamed high points. The elevations of 5 of these peaks exceed 4000 m. The highest of these peaks is the 4072 m summit of the West Dobrar Peak. The ridgeline starts near the Emamzadeh Hashem Pass on Haraz (Tehran-Amol) Road and heads east to end near the village of Seh Band on Firooz Kooh (Tehran-Sari) Road.
Dobrar RidgelineNear the western end of the Dobrar Ridgeline, you will find three peaks with roughly the same elevations. West to east, these peaks have been named as follows:
Changiz Chal Peaks1) Changiz Chal III, 3622 m
2) Changiz Chal II, 3640 m
3) Changiz Chal I, 3635 m
Changiz Chal I & II:
To the west, a 3550 m saddle separates Changiz Chal II from III. To the east, Changiz Chal I is connected to the 3750 m Parvaneh Peak via a 3510 m saddle. The saddle between Changiz Chal I & II is 3470 m high. The southern slopes of the Changiz Chal Peaks go down steeply to form a valley where the town of Damavand (not to be confused with Mt. Damavand) is located. The northern slopes go down to the valley of Lasem Creek (near its junction with Haraz River).
Changiz Chal Peaks can potentially be climbed via their northern slopes but most climbers who come to the area, climb the Peaks as a part of a multi-day traverse of the Dobrar Ridgeline (Starting at the summit of Bazm Chal Peak).
Route:
This route describes a traverse of the Dobrar Ridgeline from the 3550 m saddle between Changiz Chal III & II to the 3510 m saddle between Changiz Chal I & Parveneh Peak. Click here to read about the route to Changiz Chal III Peak.
Starting Point: The Saddle between Changiz Chal III & II 3550 m
Lowest Point: 3470 m (the saddle between Changiz Chal II & I)
End Point: Saddle between Changiz Chal I & Parvenh Peak 3510 m
Hiking distance from the summit of Changiz Chal III to the summit of Changiz Chal I: 2.36 Km (per my GPS)
From the 3550 m saddle between Changiz Chal III & II, head east and go up the easy western slopes of II to reach its summit.

You will then go down the easy east face of II to reach a 3470 m saddle.

Continuing east up more easy slopes will take you to the summit of I.

As you continue east, you might note that the eastern slopes of I are somewhat rocky. These slopes are still fairly easy to traverse.

You will go past a small high point before descending to the 3510 m saddle with the Parvaneh Peak.
