Re: Good beta

I have never top roped anything there, most people don't, the only way to do that would be off of screws doubled or trippled up. Since the ice is fairly thin in most years, I would be very cautious about doing it. The WI IV line might have a small tree at the top of the route easing the TR somewhat. The whole area is generally in very lean, thin ice conditions. Temperatures vary quite a bit at 10,000 feet on the western slopes of the Sierra so thick ice is rarity there. Also when a lot of snow falls, the whole bowl can avalanche as I have witnessed at least once over the years. Be careful going there after heavy storm. It's about three miles of skiing or snowshoeing from Lodgepole Campground via the bridge over Kaweah River. Cheers, Alois.
