Shows its distribution in Provence, but no clue on its distribution in the Mediterranean

Yes and it occurs on Corsica - and that's just a strait of 20km width away....

Orchis ichnusae

The sardinian plants are now declared as Orchis ichnusae, formerly they were called Orchis olbiensis subsp. ichnusae.
