Mount Como Splitboard tour  Sucess!

Great day out with Carson. So cool to be ski touring in the Pine Nuts. We were able to drive in from the east (Artesia/Sunrise Pass Road) and parked about 2 miles from the base of the peak. Sufficient coverage to skin from the car. Very windy at the summit. Found a cool gully with some amazing turns in soft powder. Quite possibly the first ski/snowboard descent of this peak. Just under 4 hours car to car.

Great Views  Sucess!

You can't beat hikes that follow a ridgeline like this one. Great views to the left and to the right. Found 2 registers at the summit, but looks like the benchmark has walked off.

Group of 6  Sucess!

The drivers in our group decided they could not handle the mud in the morning. So, we parked closer to Sunrise Pass Road, and walked almost 7 1/2 miles to the summit. A long, long, day. But we were successful.

Mt. Como  Sucess!

Pretty fun 4wd drive adventure. Almost got stuck in the mud a few times on the way out. The views from the summit are awesome. The strangest thing were the 10's of thousand of ladybugs on the summit. Never seen that before. The hike itself was a little boring until I got out of the trees and the view opened up. Easy class 2. The Pine Nut's are a really cool area and I will be heading back soon.
