It's a Drive Up... Literally  Sucess!

It's a Drive Up... Literally. I backed my 4runner right onto the highpoint (foundation of the old lookout). Really fantastic views. Gorgeous. Loved this one. Plumas is a cool county. -Wes

hiked the last 1.1 miles of road  Sucess!

My wife and I drove to within about a mile of the summit in her Mercury Marauder (4-door sedan) without bottoming out even once. We started up the trail together but after a couple hundred yards she encouraged me to bag the peak at my normal pace while she moseyed along at a slower pace. I met her back at the car after hurrying to the top and back. She was concerned about getting out safely should it start raining and turn the roads muddy.

#26  Sucess!

Drove up, great views in this surprisingly remote country. No clouds, a bit windy, pleasant temps.

4wd  Sucess!

Drove to the top with my wife. Great views of the northern Sierra, including Genessee Valley thousands of feet below. Pretty cool place.

Ingalls  Sucess!

The toughest part of this one was deciphering the road network without a map.

North slope xc  Sucess!

I made my way up the roads and trying to emulate directions found in Gary Suttle's book, "California County Summits", got a bit lost.I had come in from roads to the north, passing through a spot called Genesee as I recall. Using my GPS to point me in the right direction, I just kept working the road system to get me
as close as I could and I parked on the north side of Mt. Ingalls after enduring a car scratching brushfest and just headed north up the hillside that led me up to the top. I believe it was about a mile with about a 1000 feet of gain from the spot I parked. Upon reaching the top, I found the road mentioned in Suttle's book and I also met up with two ATV'ers who were from the Lake Davis area. On trying to drive out, I got totally lost and ended up on a dirt county road to the east. Mt. Ingalls is also a California prominence peak, coming in at #61 with almost 2800 feet of clean prominence.

4th of July Hike  Sucess!

Hiked with Renee and Devin. Views were poor from all the local fire activity. Family was less than pleased with all the off-road travel. Oh well...
