Mt. Shasta from about the...

Mt. Shasta from about the 8000 foot level of Mt. McLoughlin. For the record, this was taken with an Olympus iS-2DLX at 80mm,
f5.6 w/fill-in flash and hand held. I did not record the film speed or type used but it was probably Fuji 200. I was on my way down from the summit with about 5 miles to go and having unfortunately brought no lighting this turned into quite an adventure. Full story later under trip reports.

inspiring sunset

Bonzai tree reminds me of the now dead bonzai Jeffrey Pine that was often pictured at a Yosemite overlook

Re: inspiring sunset

Never too late to comment on a beauty like this one. Really a nice one. I'll have to read your story about getting off McLoughlin in the dark. It can be hard enough in the daylight as many people get off trail.

Re: inspiring sunset

Hi Dean,

Thanks for the note re my sunset photo. That was my first major trek in the dark as it turned out and as I get more and more into long distance trail runs I've had a few more as well. The Mcloughlin "event" was the most interesting by far! I'll post that adventure as soon as I get a little time to transcribe my notes. By the way, i was in the Medford area last week (6/17-18) and it looks like the ridge lines are possibly snow free enough for a hike up. I did the Rabbit Ears the afternoon of 6/17 and the snow line is about 5,500' in that area so I'm guessing the road to the McLaughlin trailhead should be passible by now.

best regards,
