Which direction did you climb from?

Did you approach Mount Siegel from the East side (from Artesia) or from the west (Gardnerville-Pine Nut Road)? I really want to hike this mountain, but have no clue how to do it. If you reached the summit, it would be great to get your insight as to the best approach.

Re: Which direction did you climb from?

I took Pine Nut Rd to Lone Pine Canyon. I parked around the 6400 foot level. From this point continue up the road and then up the west face. The west face is a mix of talus and brush.

There is a large cairn on the summit. When I was there in 2003, the summit register was water logged and rotten. There is also a memorial cross or grave marker near the summit. The area also seems to be a favorite with the ATV crowd. I also saw plenty of wild horses in the area.
