Must climb it!  Sucess!

If you live in Utah this is a must climb. I would love to do this in the winter sometime too.

Timpanogos-8/28/2011  Sucess!

Hiked up Mt Timpanogos with Kum. Took us about 5 and half hours to go up and 4 hours down. Impressed by many other people on the trail, including a snowboarder who wants to snowboard the glacier, a 6-year-old girl and many runners. The hike was very nice, but I was pretty sored after it.

cool peak  Sucess!

climbed this with my wife as a warm up for the grand teton. Went up the Timpooneke trail. Overnight rain kept the place pretty empty and we had the mountain to ourselves in the morning. Very scenic area marred somewhat by the building on the summit as well as too many visitors (one of whom apparantly thought it was a good idea to take a dump right in the middle of the trail). Still a fair amount of snow

sunrise summit

Went up Aspen Grove and down Timpanooke with a group of friends. We left around 1:00 or 2:00 am, as I recall, submitted just as the sun came up, had a nice sunrise breakfast at the summit, and came back down around 1:00 or 2:00 pm.

Timpooneke Up, Aspen Grove Down  Sucess!

Went up Timpooneke and then down Aspen Grove. It was crowded, but not terribly so. We saw moose and mountain goat (which were knocking rocks off the ridge they were traversing near the saddle down onto the trail below, watch out!). Summit view was as good as advertised.

I would highly recommend this route if the elevation gain and distance seems daunting. The Timpooneke trail is slightly longer but starts from a higher elevation trailhead, so the ascent is just a touch easier. Then by descending via Aspen Grove, you get to see all of the fantastic views that route has to offer while on the (easier) way down.

Timp  Sucess!

Hiked up via Aspen Grove in 1999 and glissaded down the snowfield to Emerald Lake. Hiked up via Timpooneke in 2001 and 2008. In '08 we saw three mountain goats near the trail, not far from the summit. Beautiful scenery all the way up (both routes), and amazing views as soon as you hit the saddle.

TIMP July 20th, 2011  Sucess!

We climbed and summitted. We had a really good time. As for current conditions, ice axes and crampons would be highly recommended. Clothes to put on to glissade down are mandatory. From the first meadow to the saddle - Timpanooke and Aspen Groove are COMPLETELY under snow - COMPLETELY. From the Saddle to the Hut - all clear. A front side approach would be easier than the back side right now. If you want the normal leisurely walk up the back side, wait until mid to late August.

Amazing Sunrise  Sucess!

Took the weekend off from county highpointing and hit Timp. Left Aspen Grove trailhead around 3:30 am in order to make the top by sunrise. Sunrise, mountain goats, avoiding heat and crowds made the early start worthwhile.

Conditioning for Rainier  Sucess!

05/20/06 Kim and I joined the WMC to do this one in order to carry some heavy packs in an effort to condition for Mt. Rainier. Great time. And the beginning of many more trips with the WMC

06/21/06 Via Timponeeke. Kim and I and our dogs made it too! (or is that four)

05/31/14 True mountaineering, negotiation of a cornice, got main summit, walked the ridge south, back to main summit, over Bomber and down. One of the best days of my life.

Timpanogos  Sucess!

Seven summits. Most trashed wilderness area I have been to. Avoid crowds by doing winter ascents.

Timpooneke  Sucess!

You can't even tell you're gaining elevation. Easy, beautiful route. Numerous mountain goats. Numerous goofballs using their cell phones on the summit.

quick up   Sucess!

Liked timponeeke side better--seems to be a moderate climb. Climbed it twice: once in 2000, another in 2008. First large mountain I hiked--but both times I was in horrible shape. Still made it.

Better than I remember  Sucess!

I hadn't been up in a few years...since I started running peaks regularly. I was well impressed by the views etc. that I guess I had undervalued in the past. Man this mountain is runnable! Made it from the saddle to the summit in 12:31 and back from Summit to saddle in 6:36. Entire descent under an hour (cruising to the outhouse and then bombing the rest of the way). My first run up was at age 10...this was summit #6 I believe.

My wife called my BS when she asked if it was too hard for her to hike. I said yes, so I had to go up again. Awesome hike again
