Quick forty minute jaunt up the dirt road. No views to be had since the fire tower is fenced off but I did find quite a few intact antique bottles in an ancient trash midden just outside the fence. Not as dry as some other glades in the Ozarks.
Not a bad way to get in some hiking
Very hot and humid, and no views - but a quick plunge into a deep part of the park's 'shut in' healed all hurts.
Hiked all around the park with fellow SP'er tbacon251. Had a great day.
Hiked up and around Mudlick. Nice state park.
I was visiting a friend in St Louis and we decided to visit this mountain so that we could get a "climb" in. No views but still an interesting place to visit.
Summited and then spent a great night at the lowest of the three CCC stone shelters. Myself and another backpacker had fires going in each of the two fireplaces which made for a toasty night. Great views down to Big Creek from just outside the shelter.
